Comments (10)Hello Down Under! I love your house. Beautiful and I agree with keeping the color. Really nice. How about replacing the metal staircase with a nice raised deck to fill in that space and give a place to sit and put plants. Then turn the stairs toward the street to make them more inviting. Wooden stairs. As for landscaping after that, well, how about some of those fabulous English borders with lots of perennials? Replace metal awning with wood? Or fabric? Also, if I were you, I would keep the fence. It is ugly but it has great value --especially if you have a dog. How about planting English ivy all along the fence. We have it in our yard growing on a large rock and by the second year it was taking over. This can cover your fence completely and make it look, well, English. It will even grow up the cinder block wall--if you can handle that much ivy. There are some pretty green and white ivy varieties that would look great with your house color. I have another one here that is pale green and white. Not a fast grower but very pretty. Anyway, great house. All the best!...See MoreFacade renovation ideas wanted for 1955 brick home in adelaide
Comments (7)Without seeing pictures I would say to renovate to original as much as you can. Reinstate original windows, etc. Render can be tricky aside from re-paint. Can clad over it but its expensive to do correctly, it's the extra work required around windows and eaves, etc rather than just installing the cladding over battens which itself it quite quick. Once a picture or two is uploaded many more suggestions will come forward....See MoreIdeas to renovate the floorplan of our new home
Comments (44)Hey All. I've been thinking about the 3rd bedroom which will become a childs bedroom one day, and whether I can eat into that space to make an ensuite. Take a look at these designs compared to the original and let me know what you think? (It pretty much removes 1m from the length of the room from 4 to 3m. Then there is still a wardrobe inside this, so pretty much 2.5m) Also keen on your thoughts as to what I've done with the wardrobe in the master. I've pushed it ~60cm into the room (making the room go from 4m wide to ~3.3m wide) to turn it into a walk in wardrobe. The current planned wardrobe is around 2.6m wide, but this would add another 60cm to the ends, so would turn it into around 3.8m of Wardrobe space. Does this make the room too cramped, or do you think that the left over space would be easy to work with?...See MoreLiving/house/room renovation ideas please
Comments (6)As suggested by rocksfam, remove the bar top, add tiles over the brickwork of the bar, ditch the vertical blinds for linen sheers, ditch the pelmets for metal rods, & paint the brickwork, leaving the fireplace surround in brick & ditch the fancy steel brackets for blackened steel plain brackets, Fill in the brick arch and install a large mirror or artwork to hide the filled in arch. Paint the brickwork & ceiling in the same colour to create a cosy setting. When you can afford some lamps, go with a cool floor lamp & some smaller table lamps. To add some greenery, a plant in a large pot will do the trick. You will need a large floor rug for that space....See More- 7 years ago
