Colour for wall cladding
We have an extension to our house which is finished with a Cypress Pine or Western Red Cedar cladding. It needed a re-stain so we decided to sand it back. We were planning on staining it in a slightly darker brown colour.
But we are also thinking about painting it a solid colour but not sure what colour would match the rest of the house the best.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
We would even consider changing the colours of other parts of the outside such as the gutter to make it look better.

6 years agoWhite, blue, grey... lots of options. Your colour pallet for the exterior is very neutral so easy to find something suitable. What is your interior like? It is important for the inside to make sense with the outside, perhaps there is a good colour internally that you can reflect here. Or perhaps, something different is the best option.

6 years agoThis is the inside of the house. The bottom photo is the inside of that extension.
The House is a Yellowy Creamy colour that is very dated and we want to change to a more neutral off white at a later date.
I did think that a white or off white for the outside might look a bit too white and washed out with the white Brick. The Brick does have like charcoal flecks through it. So maybe that colour could be good to coordinate with.

Comments (16)The silver will look quite good with your colour scheme. I would probably change some weatherboard for Scyon Axon just to change it up a bit. Also use Scyon Axent for architraves and wall corners. Comments (12)Depends a little bit on the style of your house , but my first reaction is the same as bigreader -- no , and almost certainly no , no , no , no , not 4 rooms in one house . Some of the schists look alright , the 80's style might suit an 80's or even 50's minimalist American house . There are some fairly cool 'wavy' panels that are available these days ; even some feature walls that look like timber ends sticking out of a wall ; wallpaper works in some places ; but one wall of brighter paint is the most obvious 'feature wall' . 6 years agoI tried Gilbrator Grey initially but it was too light. That is it on the right side with some patch work.
I looked at Colorbond Basalt but decided on something darker and went Colorbond Monument.
Still a work in progress.

What do people think?
Should I go lighter?
Something does not feel right. It feels un-balanaced somehow.
