Help with kitchen colours please

Hi, i have a dilemma, need to choose colours asap. I have a very busy, pinkish floor, which i would love to change but can't at moment. The kitchen and loungeroom has exposed brick and the kitchen is also pink. The exposed brick will be getting plastered at same time as kitchen reno. I had a colour consultant came out and suggested polytec classic white as cupboard doors. Think a whiter white may look too stark against pink floors. Also a charcoal grey splashback. At that point we were going with laminate benchtops but have changed mind to stone. Want something with a little fleck as we have 3 kids and think plain white may mark. We have decided on vedastone crystal diamond but my question is will that be ok against the warm white, when it more of a cool white? ( i think) thanks! Please ignor the wilsonart laminate samples on 1st pic of tiles.

Hi Kelly,
I would stick with the Classic White, as suggested by your colour consultant. It is a warmer toned white but it definitely is not cream, and will appear whiter over a larger area. I have used classic white in literally hundreds of kitchens (including my own) and am confident you will be pleased with the outcome. The Polar White will be too jarring against your flooring and really only suits a very modern scheme.
I am not familiar with the Vedastone product however looking at your sample it appears to be very similar to Smartstone Arcadia (which is a cool-ish white) . I have included below an image of one of my client's kitchens, which features classic white sheen on the base cupboards and Smartstone Arcadia on the benchtops, just to give you an idea of the end look.

Hi Kelly, it's a small kitchen so lighter colours will give the impression of space. Currently, I am re-designing two kitchens both requiring a modern minimalist palette. I am using a wonderful product for the benchtops that will suit your family - it's an acrylic stone that looks and feels just like genuine stone or marble - it's even cold like stone, and it's extremely hardy and easy to look after. It's called Mirostone. HQ is here in Adelaide. I am very impressed with it. The colour range is small - from white to grey (5 or 6 colours) but most colours have contrasting chips of colour to add texture, not a flat colour. I am then installing beautiful hi-gloss cupboards from Italy (well-priced) with soft close doors - they come with or without handles. Handless cupboards adds to a streamlined result. One kitchen will be white on both upper and lower cupboards with light grey Mirostone benchstops and splashback. The other, which would suit you, is white on top and a gorgeous pale grey on the bottom. Benchtops are white with grey chips, and a polished metal splashback. In your kitchen you could add brushed nickel, matte black, or even rose gold tap ware for a luxe look. Add colour and texture as desired with tea towels or a beautiful blind. Good luck. Thanyou! Will have to look into mirostone. Can get vedastone for a really good price and cost is a factor for us. This is the very white vedastone with grey fleck. Do you think this could work? Here are some better photos. And if so, which white do you think works better. Classic is our original choice but it looks cream compared to polar.

A nice blue/black white always looks crisp. Take care to match splash tile white to white of doors or it won't look as good. Will look like You couldn't get a match. Everything looks great in a small sample but when you get large areas together you can see they don't match.

In both pictures , the upper cabinets look a cream and the below bench ones look white ? Might be a flash or similar , because that doesn't make sense to me . I hate grey at the best of times , and this kitchen has gone for the blandest shade of grey for the walls too , and I'm not sure if there is a grey tinge to the tiles , but it looks like there may be . Like dreamer , I'd go a reasonably colourful rug , and 2 or 3 brighter coloured benchtop appliances , because I suspect most potential buyers will want to change 1 or more aspect anyway . The other thing is that you said the tiles are right through the house -- tiles are sort of expected in a kitchen , not in a lounge or bedroom . So if you do a nice floor in the kitchen that really suits the space , not only will a potential buyer be thinking they want to completely redo the kitchen , but it also highlight the tiles elsewhere too .

The grey walls don’t look fabulous especially with the windows. I wouldn’t be decorating around them. The walls won’t take a lot to be repainted as they are in great condition. You’d be wasting your money trying to match your flooring to them. Flooring is not cheap and impacts your whole decorating scheme for a lot of years.

Hi all! Bit late to the thread... but we have the same colour polytec cupboards, smartstone arcadia benchtop and polished concrete floors in a mid grey. BUT now I’m struggling to pick a paint colour that doesn’t make the cupboards look yellow. Ideally it needs to match the white but want to stay away from a yellow tone throughout. Any ideas?

I used natural white on the walls, but ended up going with a different colour cabinet. Looks slightly creamy against cabinets, but on other walls looks very white. I would try natural white☺

Great thankyou, i'll take a look at those! We've been recommended Whisper White but my gut is going with lexicon half/quarter for some reason... What are your thoughts on those colours?

Whisper white looked greenish in my house, i guess depends on light. Ive heard lexicon throws off blue, but haven't tried it. Good luck!

Natural White & Whisper White will both work well with Polytec Classic White. I would steer clear of Lexicon - it's a little too cool to work well with Classic White. You might find it easier if you get some sample pots & paint up some large boards as both Whisper White & Natural White will look lighter and 'more white' once they are on the wall. Lexicon half or quarter would be incredibly light as a wall colour and too stark for most applications.

I just found this suggestion as I have a light small kitchen going with polytec classic white Matt, I have tried both those paint colours on the wall and one looked yellow and one looked green, should I go with whisper white, will it look green once it has more coverage over the kitchen walls?

Louise- what did you end up going with? We are about to get polytec classic white cabinets & are struggling with wall colour white options too. Would love to see what you chose & how it looks.

Hi, we are looking at replacing our cabinets. The black benchtop will stay as it's in good condition. As shown in the photo our floor is light to medium terracotta colour. We can repaint the surrounding walls another colour. It's a galley kitchen and around 12-1pm it starts looking a bit gloomy in there, especially in winter. The polytec colours we are looking at so far for the cabinets are Polytec Porcelain, Classic White & maybe Alabaster? I would appreciate opinions as it's getting a bit difficult to choose. Or perhaps there are other suggestions for colour out there? Please ignore the colour swatches.
