Why not keep your front door as is (paint with another colour if you wish) and if the budget allows, add wrought iron gates over the existing doors in a glossy dark grey (black maybe?) This would pick up on the wrought iron you already have at the top of the steps. You could also maybe think bout adding glass panels to your doors?

Yeah...ended up going with door number 1 :) Glass is covered up still with green tape cause the painters r painting walls atm, so this is it so far........

A plain wall with an opening at about 5-6 ft or just make it to this height, our neighbour has this it looks fantastic, simple, gives privacy and lets light into both spaces. I'am guessing that you will be using the RH door for entry. good luck

The pivot doors that Julie has posted are out of character , and like most posts so far , I like the existing door . However , being weird , I'd leave the flyscreen , and the frosting -- I think it all suits . Maybe needs a coat of paint -- imagine the 2 lower exterior infill panels on the door in a bright red or orange to lift the look , tie in with the brick , add some colour ? Or do the whole door and the wrought iron scrolls of the screen in 1950's pastel mint green or apricot -- the reverse of modernising ! Also unlike most , I don't particularly like the wooden panels above the door and the bay window -- I know some will scorn , but I'd either plaster smooth , or maybe go with glass ( yes , frosted ) with little net curtains -- I suspect the outside view of this isn't really visible ( under a veranda I gather ? ) but to me , it would tidy the inside look , look period , and tie it all in . Then , add a red leather lounge suite or chairs ( depending on that rooms use ) and at least 1 big colourful abstract painting -- that is the way to add class and colour and some modern looks IMO , not by adding an ultramodern door to what is essentially a 40 year old house . Just my thoughts .
