I really like colorbonds wallaby... they have some contrasting colours listed below... this might give a dark enough look without being too dark. however would you consider changing roof and trims first and then see how you feel about the brickwork? It might be all you need to do for an updated look. I'd maybe do roof and gutters same colour and then down pipes in a colour similar to bricks so not to stand out..., garage doors maybe the woodland grey?

totally agree and would not like to any of the above lollie pop colours, Using White & black trims is classic and ageless and works beautifully with the bricks and terracotta roof. The brief is to keep the budget in mind, and I agree with not rendering or painting the brick especially just the front. Other than what is already planned, I'd concentrate on painting windows and trims and as mentioned replacing the gutters and down pipes, making over the driveway and clean up and plant the garden. Something that might make the house look a bit more up to date is how the carport is filled, will the wall facing the street be board that's rendered , timber, cut metal sheets or 50's concrete blocks painted or not. When you used to fly into Sydney it was a sea of red roofs now they're all monument and the walls similar. cheers

I used duck egg white on the whole house including eaves and Monument on windows and black trim and railings. Mine is a mid century boxy style but has added textures. I’m very happy with this colour scheme but I probably need to see a picture of yours or even just a style. Works for me, but might not suit yours.

Hi Donna. I’m asking myself that same question; trying to work out if it will really matter, and if I do decide to paint the outside, where do I stop? And will I be creating a maintenance nightmare in years to come. It’s not immediately obvious that the internal and external parts are different colours. I notice. Others don’t. You can see the diff when you’re at an angle, but you have to be looking for it. And who stares at your window frames? People are usually looking outside, beyond the frame. Excuse the mess and half finished paint job, but these pics may give you an idea of what to expect. It’s more obvious on the sliding door, but only when close up and from an acute angle. This will look dramatically better when I finish painting the door frame.
