I'd also highly recommend a nice white or rustic looking ladder shelf. It'll help elongate the table vertically.

I'd try lowering the clock as it's too far above the table, bring it to about 12 inch above, you could add a couple of poufs either side for seating which would make it look wider plus a lamp to help add height

I agree - the clock is way too high. You can see in the pics above the correct height for hanging above a table. I think everything will look more in proportion if it is lowered.

Could you flip clock in 90 degrees inside this wood? So you would be able to hang wood vertically?

I think off centre everything a bit. Shift things around so it's no so uniform as well as definitely lower the clock. Add some more pictures (in around next to) the clock. Or Put the clock somewhere else add a big mirror with the ladder next to it. That way it's some where people can hang jackets scarves etc

This table is longer than yours but the idea to use several large framed pictures with the clock might work for you, they have made the wall hangings a bit wider than the table

In my opinion too much around the walls near the table makes the area look too busy when it should be clean and simple to make the table and the above clock the feature, I would off set the table to the left and buy a nice tallish free standing vase OR preferably shabby chic a wooden plant stand and stand a plant on it, this would give a more balanced aesthetic to the whole look without it and the area to do that would not take up too much space so as not overdoing the area to make it have a more cluttered look, I like the idea of flipping the clock so that is then becomes a longer feature and would look more balanced, I think a handy hubby or friend could do it, for me a ladder is nice to put towels on in a bathroom but in an area like you have what is it's purpose? I don't find it particularly pleasing but please no one be offended this is just my opinion and as a (just) retired art restorer I am very interested in aesthetically pleasing spaces and interior decorating I realise everyone has their own opinions and they know what is right for them once they sort through the answers.

If you lower the clock it too much it defeats the purpose of the clock being useful as they should be around eye level. Hope this helps.

PS: If you flip the clock I doubt you'd need anything other than a couple of smaller family pictures framed at say 2 each side on the walls but make sure it balances.

What area of the house is this please? Decor can vary accordingly. Rotating the clock is a great idea. If not, I agree with putting table off centre, possibly the clock as well. The ladder will work if you use it to display items that complement (do not distract from) the clock and table, as they are already ornate. Maybe 1 or 2 subtle potplants with hanging foliage? Shabby white pots. But yes, do lower the clock. Let the clock and the table be the features, don't be tempted to clutter it up.

Sorry, I dont like the ladder! It doesnt fit with the classic feel of the table at all I think lower the clock and put a pretty chair next to the table to balance the width. Then maybe a lamp or vase on the table to give it some height. Keep it simple!

Another idea for you, enlarge family photos onto canvas add a rug and a bigger toy basket under the console
