Grout color help?!

Hey guys,

Again, we're stuck on a decision, and need some suggestions/advice/opinions/etc.

Our house is currently gutted so we don't really have the opportunity to view anything "in context".

For context, our cabinets are pearl white, countertops are Jet Mist granite, and our cabinet hardware is a dark aged bronze finish. Our floors are white oak finished in Golden Oak stain.

We are doing a traditional matte white subway tile backsplash, with a herringbone feature inside a border behind our cooktop. To really get that classic look, we are going with a dark grout for the subway tile. The dilemma, which color exactly? The four we're deciding between are Mapei Slate, Pearl, Pearl Gray, and Charcoal. Any opinions and/or advice would be greatly appreciated. (also, how large should the grout line be?)

Attached are samples, in the best lighting possible. Also, sorry about the Charcoal, they were out of the physical samples.

I like the lighter grout. It comes down to a personal choice. I also like contrast, so look at low contrast and high contrast grout lines paired with your subway tile color in photos and see which appeal to you most.

So far......These are the light grey tiles around the pool. The coping of the pool is done with light grey Marble, and we got mosaics on outside around the spa - Still not finished yet.... Tilers are here today working :)) Hopefully hould be finished soon!

Grout can't be minimal unless your using a rectified edge tile. Normal tiles have a slightly round edge, therefore the grout space is larger to fill between edges. Rectified tiles have a straight edge. A good tiler can lay these tiles with minimal grout, because the grout does not have to fill the 'curve' of the tile. Google rectified tiles.

Mold turns grout dark in a bathroom. We had a bathroom in the 70's with dark grout looked like a mold infested cave. Awful. It's okay with a black grout in a shop for effect, but a dark brown grout in a bathroom.....just no. Travertine will be a pale grey and blend in with your tiles.

We are renovating three bathrooms, all with dark grey 600 x 600 floor tiles, white 300 x 600 wall tiles laid vertically, and a feature wall with textured subway tiles laid vertically. In the ensuite, the feature tiles are white (blanc), in the main bathroom they are palest pink (rose), and in the powder room they are palest green (vert). https://www.equipeceramicas.com/en/portfolio-item/la-riviera/ My question is about choosing a grout colour and whether it should be the same colour for the wall tiles as for the feature wall tiles? The feature tiles are textured and have slight colour variations (ie. not all one single shade), as you can see in the link. I'm thinking of using the Ardex misty grey. Any advice would be great! I think they're all too dark. I'd try a very pale silver.

Since it looks like you are leaning towards darker grout, I would suggest the Pearl Grey. I recommend this color because it will give a little contrast, but will not take away the focus from the tile.
