I agree with vee_2596 that the coffee table should be in a similar wood to the dining table and I like the style of the first image that LouieT posted. If you could find a marble top coffee table with light wooden legs that would work perfectly. As your dining table is in a light wood perhaps White Thonet chairs could work, this will complement the light wood tone and keep the room fresh. My Home Stylist - I really appreciate your feedback. The Noguchi coffee is really nice. I think I'm getting closer to finalising the colours. I've done my research and found these. Do you think they match? Coffee table I did my research and found something similar to the noguchi coffee table but in white (thought it'll suit the white ikea table). Dining Chairs I really love the chairs with timber legs but I've decided that since my apartment will be occasionally rented out I'll stick with a more conservative look. Dark Grey frabic will match my sofa. The steel........ It's similar to one of the photos on houzz. Bar Stool: Now that I have chosen a dark grey/steel leg dining chairs and an oak based coffee table, would a standard white barstool with steel leg still work well with everything else or is it starting to clash? I found some possible but more expensive options if it's starting to clash:

Hi Katrina, Overall the sofa looks just too big, even though essentially it fits on paper. It would be better to go with a 2800 L shaped sofa with chaise and have the chaise side running by the wall so it's a bit more open as you walk in. And if you make the chaise 1600/1700 then you have more room to pull the sofa a bit closer to the TV and make space for your dining table behind. Or pop the chaise on the side closer to the kitchen then you may have room for an occasional chair on other side by the window. Does this make sense?

I love the first one! The cement one looks too industrial for my taste.
