Skylight and Flat Colourbond Roofing help

last modified: 7 years ago

Our kitchen / dining is quite dark, so we are looking installing a skylight, probably a Velux 4343 (1275 x 1275), i.e. these are the largest of the 'flat roof' stlye, which we assume would let the most light into the room. However, we have a colorbond steel roof, but the metal sheeting varies in length and theyre not in great condition, i.e. the skylight opening would likely span over 2-3 sheets at various points (Im concerned that spanning so many sheets will create gaps and leaks). Do we a) Get the roofing fixed at the same time as skylight install, or b) install the skylight and assume that we can get the skylight sealed? Obviously we will consult with a roofing specialist. Looking forward to any suggestions / experienced advice. Thanks, Sam
