What's the worst uninvited guest you've ever found in your house?
Comments (133)White-tail spider in my track suit pants WHICH I WAS WEARING! I thought it was a lump of lint from the laundry, drew it out, and promptly flung it across the room once I realised... never to be seen again! How it didn't bite me and sat still to be picked up, I don't know - it must have known I wouldn't do it any harm. We lived in lots of country places, too... We were invaded by small black crickets one year, and lady bugs, another year, in your drawers, in your hair, in your pantry, in your undies... everywhere! And then the blue tongue lizard that would go in and out with our dogs via doggie door, and made itself a nest in our laundry... I gave up and left some old towels for it. Had an echidna get up into the wheel well of our car... wild brumbies in our patio... the list goes on. My husband still says that the most unwelcome visitor was his mother... I like her better than he does!...See MorePOLL: Have your pets influenced your home improvement 'style?'
Comments (6)We have two cats that are indoor pets. Sadly the male took a jaunt outside and got a few sctratches and tears from a large neighbour cat. He began territorial peeing on any cushion, stray coat, laundry basket, no matter it was on top of a piano or speaker or even a bed. Our piano varnish ruined, so very much washing.. (Thank God for Nature's Miracle). Now we have to keep him incarcerated in the laundry area which has an enclosed porch and cat tree and so forth. He comes in for supervised visits and we take him outside every other day to run and play. When we move we will be planning an area specifically for him. It's so sad as we never would treat him like this if he could break the habit, but we've tried everything and he's hooked like an addict. He isn't as happy as he used to be....See MoreIn your dream home, would you prefer a bar or dressing room?
Comments (10)Well, yes, my first instinct is I would like a butlers pantry. But giving it some thought isn't that more bench space, sinks, and other kitchen paraphernalia to keep clean and organised? Surely a well designed kitchen is enough? Don't need a bar at all, so ugly, so seventies! My vote goes to the dressing room. Organised space for clothes, no overflow into the guest bedroom. Shoes sitting up like little soldiers, clothes divided into seasons, scarves ready to be plucked for wear, orderly pants on trouser hangers that don't catch on one another, colour coded tops, jackets all lined up, Floor length mirrors, sock drawers, underwear drawers, makeup storage and lighting. What's not to dream for? Sounds like the ultimate in luxury to me!...See MoreHave you ever used your dishwasher for storage?
Comments (10)Personally I don't store our clothes to be washed in a few days, and our dishes are just as important to our family health, so dishes get washed and or at least rinsed, is what you get up front.. Guests are welcome to use the dishwashe,r we can easily connect it, so far no problems for them either. I wash, sometimes they dry their choice.Everyone is different I love that....See More- 7 years ago
