Hi there! We have just installed a very similar beveled subway tile in one of our homes and it looks magnificent (photos are to come very soon!) With the subtle grey tone to the bench top, the brighter white splash back will provide a nice contrast. I would suggest choosing the white of your cabinetry to be similar to the tile allowing the benchtop to be the feature!

I think the white tiles are an excellent idea. The freshness of the white will be the perfect foil to the red accents. The key to success is to use the red strategically (not too much). I think one or two pieces of artwork will be the perfect finish to the decor. I recommend theming your dishes and glassware by using simple shapes that might have been used in a diner.
