Comments (9)Depends on so many things! I agree a decent cup is the first step. Fine bone china keeps the tea hot much longer. A shape and size and visual appeal to suit the drinker would be even better. Fresh water boiled immediately, and not left on the boil for too long if on a stove top. Filtered water if you live somewhere with heavily chlorinated water would be better. Brewed with the leaves loose in a pot will give the tea leaves more room to 'swim', allowing them to impart their flavour faster and giving a more full flavour without over steeping, which leaves a bitter flavour from the tannins being released. Use a tea cozy to retain heat if not using a fine bone china teapot. Different types of tea are best steeped for different times, so see the packet of your favourite tea for ideal steep time. Add more or less tea leaves to increase or decrease strength rather than changing the time, as otherwise it either just tastes like hot water or tannins. Add cold milk, lemon and/or sugar to taste. If you can't tell how any of that makes a difference, use a tea bag in any old cup you like, but don't squeeze it out or you will get a super dose of tannins. If you like bitter tea, you can end the debate now and just say you can make your tea however you like. ;-)...See MoreHow do you feel about a "mindfulness space"?
Comments (7)I really can't stand the word mindfullness. It's like wellbeing - just combining two words to make a new one feels so clunky. How about being conscious, aware, present, in the moment. I voted for #3, as i appreciate fresh air and natural light more than silence or seclusion. I dont have a space like this at the moment, but maybe a stool in my courtyard could do the trick. Thanks for the inspiration!...See MoreAny ideas on how to work with this space?
Comments (19)Like most other posters , I can't quite get a full idea what you are trying to achieve , and I mean that in a positive sense . How many people are living there ? What are your priorities ? Is the kitchen also currently the dining area too ? Will an island bench , or a breakfast bar be sufficient , do you eat in the lounge , do you still want a formal dining area ? To me , the kitchen itself is easy , it's the other issues that may create the problems . Some ideas -- like most people , I'd be inclined to open the kitchen and living areas , especially if ( as seems likely ) thst wall isn't load bearing . That way , you can do a breakfast bar or island ( and new benchtops -- I'd match the colour and material of all those ) , a dining area and living area . If you only want 2 bedrooms , then removing the wall into Bed 3 , or ideally opening the hallway too , by taking out 2 walls of Bed 3 , you'd have heaps of space , but how useful depends on your priorities and even things like the sun and the view ! But here's maybe another thought -- assuming the plans are to scale , the downstairs is quite large , and has water -- so is it possible ( at some stage ) to enclose the stairs and maybe turn the storage space into 2 bedrooms and a bathroom ? That way , you could have a large kitchen / dining / living area , and 2 bedrooms upstairs ( with 1 or 2 toilets ) , 2 bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs . Yes , downstairs mightn't be suitable , or not enough light , or not enough insulation , but just some thoughts . The disadvantage is the cost ( and there may only be say 2 of you ) , the advantage is it would be more valuable and resell quicker and/or for more . Just throwing ideas around ....See More- 8 years ago
