I remember years ago being in a similar predicament and someone gave me some mirror tiles - I glued them on the the wall and thought I was very clever. They actually did look much better in my eyes. Try not to spend too much - I think everyone's idea of a shower curtain will all the bathroom colours in it would probably be the best option. You'll laugh about it in years to come and you will love the improvements you make over time. Enjoy the moment, unless you're selling soon your ideas will change after living there, so change when you can afford it - who cares it's YOURS. Good luck, it's so rewarding and so much fun. P.S. now we have a small bathroom, wall to wall tiles, dark grey on the floor and white on all the walls with a large grey tile up each opposing wall, tall mirror over the handbasin which reflects the opposite wall then a full length bath with shower over it. It works perfectly and looks great.

In a previous post on this discussion forum I described my laundry bin...a 30L cardboard barrel which I lined with an old shower curtain and decorated still reigns supreme on the lid of my top loder, Nobody knows what it is and its a never ending source of admiration from an artistic angle. Lacking floor space the only option was to sit it up there or out on the veranda.It works as a cat toy too. It has, however, acquired some vents in the lid since some of my art shirts are often a bit oily and I learnt that some oils tend to self combist in enclosed spaces and can be the cause of house fires. Hi Zoe, what a lovely space, great neutral floor and curtains, your lounge and dining set perfect, I think you do know what you like just look at the photos you have posted, the only thing missing in your space are the personal bits and pieces. Take all of the above photos with you to Kmart and use them as a reference to purchase, good thing is you can change them if you feel it doesn't work. Your room really needs lights/ lamps, are you able to fit a hanging lamp above the table, what type of ceiling lights does the apartment have The other big thing is the entertainment wall needs bulking up, you need something taller and wider this can be made up with a couple TV height(Taller) cabinets on either side of the current TV, the speaker system needs a home and arranging, Kmart is bound to have something, or check out Salvo's etc they often have those old Pine timber entertainment units that old TV's sat into. With a light sand, white wash and a sealing coat they come up a treat Love your rug but it's a bit small, in the meantime I think I would line up against the lounge so it's not lost. Good advice Nelson Interiors, love Kmart and Bunnings to help with stretching the budget, Zoe don't over look Buniings for furnishing your room, work benches etc also make great TV stands and side boards, they also have a large lighting section cheers

Rachael, you’re very welcome! It was fun to draw up. As far as layering photos, I wasn’t suggesting you cover one photo with another, (what is the point of having beautiful photos and memories then! Lol) rather, overlap the edges of the frames (both are quite wide from your photos) so that they are connected without obscuring the images within. Hope that makes sense! What a difference just painting that back wall makes! It really opens up the room now. I think the few bricks around your fireplace now is a very charming feature. It keeps the charm of the original while bringing the rest of the room into a fresh new era! Well done! I would suggest running a long extension chord for your tv for now while you try out a new layout for the space if there are no powerpoints on the far wall, just to be sure you like the arrangement.
