Need help on choosing type of Blind
Comments (12)Not sure why Helioscreen said that the 3m may sag as they have blinds up to 4.2m wide - but the tube is a heavier duty tube (120mm diameter). We have installed blinds from Vertilux with 3.2m, 3.4m and 3.6m widths without any sagging - but you need to choose the right fabric. We have one example on our Houzz site and another on our Facebook site. Feel free to contact Vertilux directly. If you need contact details then let us know....See MoreWhat is more modern curtains or blinds?
Comments (8)Hello, We sell both so I have no reason to suggest one over the other. However, yes Roller blinds are very functional and right on trend for a modern decor. He is absolutely correct. Its not just the window furnishings that create softness to a room. You could even automate them for about the same cost as buying curtains. We do a lot of homes with double roller blinds right thought. However if you like curtains there is nor reason you shouldn't have them. Its your home and you need to love been there. It really comes down to picking the right fabrics and pleat types to work with your look. Blinds are great in smaller spaces and can achieve a clean lined open look wheres curtains can soften a room and add warmth .. be ware that curtains can close a room in and make it appear smaller. It can also make furniture placement difficult. Might I suggest a mix? Sheer curtains hung from the ceiling with a roller blinds behind can look very sleek in apartments. You can have the best of both :) I would just suggest you don't go with anything too "fussy" keep the lines clean and don't go to full with your curtains. You don't want lots of fabric cluttering your room. Here's an apartment with automated rollers. Another with just rollers. Here's a space with a mix. still very modern. A child's room with a mix of rollers and Chain Drive Roman Blinds. Great for reducing daytime heat. Day time privacy and the roman Blinds is block out to help them sleep. Roman Blinds are great for kids rooms as the add softness, are practical and you can place furniture below the windows. Another example Hope this was at all helpful ;)...See MoreShould I go with blinds, plantations or rollers?
Comments (24)Hi Annb1997 I was also confused and intrigued about the two sided binds - so looked them up and found they differ from double rollers. A company called 'Blinds on the Net' supply them. They are called Zebra Blinds and this extract from their website explains how the operate "The cleverly designed Zebra Blind utilses a horizontal striped fabric with alternating Translucent or Block Out and Sheer stripes. Two layers of this fabric move independantly to create overlaping combinations or Translucent and Sheer or Block Out and Sheer. A simple but effective idea that allows high levels of light and privacy control with the one product."...See MoreRoman blinds - one blind or two separate blinds?
Comments (15)As the windows are framed individually I would also suggest two separate roman blinds. Set up to the height of the picture rail will accentuate the ceiling height and tie in with the architecture of the room. To have the blinds at this height will also allow you to see through 100% of the window area when the blinds are open. Where these blinds hang to will also be important to consider. I would suggest the base of the two romans be set to the top of the sill, as to set them lower will show the sill extensions on the left and right sides sticking out. All the best!...See Moreannb1997
