The Brief from our clients was to open up and bring back to life a family home in an affluent eastern suburbs location.

The house had seen various un sympathetic renovations over the past few decades and the result was a house with a confused and disjointed feel.

The clients did not want us to add any additional rooms or facilities but rather to, within the existing shell, open up the inside spaces and through clever design and make a home which felt harmonious and holistic.

They specifically said they did not intend to renovate again and it was therefore important for us to design in such a way so that the house would not age or significantly depreciate in value over the years.

The main challenge in the design process was to eliminate the psychological barrier between the old federation part of the house and the newer less sympathetic addition.

The result was an open and modern feeling home.

Within the clients budget, we managed to add significant value to houses worth whilst providing a comfortable and modern living environment that this family will llive in for decades to come.

The Final renovation cost was $550 000.
