Bathroom in need of an update! Budget ideas needed.
Comments (23)Hello! Lovely space, I have a huge soft spot for these bathrooms. To honour what it is, but make it more enjoyable for your uses PLANTS PLANTS PLANTS. I would either install some shelving to have some dangling vines (or equivalent look) plants up high, or use a hanging fixture into the ceiling. That far corner above the bath would be great. + A large (and tall) pot plant and some smaller ones wherever you can fit them. On top of this, I would replace the doily curtain to a more modern look, perhaps white, wooden blinds? If you can do further work from here, it would be accessories, like the towel rail, and tap ware. Something a little Art Deco for your taps would look amazing. Finish with large, fluffy white towels and bathmats to conceal as much of the colour as possible and brighten the space and a big candle or three, maybe a white stool or ladder too....See MoreHelp! 80s bathroom in need of some budget updating ideas
Comments (25)If this is just a budget improvement then I would try to fix the cracked tiles and missing grout, paint the window frame white and add white shutters on the window, paint the vanity white (although I don't like doing that either) and get new handles and taps, toilet roll holder etc., install a lovely white potted plant, as shown above and white fluffy towels. A new white frame on the mirror or replace it with a slightly smaller white framed one. Then I would save up for a white stone bench top or stone overlay bench top and the cream will go nicely with all of it. Unfortunately your shower seems to be the most dated part. If you try to change the door you may find that you have missing tiles, although new floor tiles in the shower would probably look OK and add a glass hinged door. Good luck....See MoreExterior update ideas
Comments (2)Have a look at ‘Raku for the darker trim and “Flooded Gum’ or ‘Stepney’ for the lighter colour, love ‘Raku’ and the other two compliment it beautifully, lovely house...See MoreExterior update advice needed!
Comments (6)Just as a matter of interest , how do you find out where someone is based ? Anyway , like 98% of places , I reckon it needs colour . Grey and white ARE NOT colours -- they are what you use if you can't be bothered haha . The basic bones are okay , and personally altering the doorway or the roof would be way down my list of things to do . Here's roughly what I'd do -- -- paint the base in charcoal , and the wooden fence or gate on the right hand side also in charcoal . -- paint the lower square of the front door in a bright orange or yellow or red . Maybe do the handrail in that colour too , but the problem is its pretty basic , and although colour will highlight it , it will also highlight the basicness . Those 2 things will freshen everything , and look way better than doing the shutters in black IMO . Then do some rock gardens ( even say 3 smaller gardens , each a different shape and using different colour stones ) , with flaxes and conifers and clumps of grasses and maybe even a tall cactus -- greens and browns and reds and wheat coloured leaves . No flowers or roses okay ? And a path made from those aggregate stone pavers . All designed to add interest and tie everything together but also make the lawn look tidier . Add a lowish white picket fence and a trendy letterbox . Look like you live there , not just rent it ....See Moreme me
