I've just been looking at your colours, I think the Dulux Dieskau would work the best with the other colours you have to work with, choosing colours is such a personal thing and I know it can be really hard to choose and hope you make the correct choice. Oskuee is right, a paint job can look terrible half way through so you need to make sure you finish to get the proper look of colour. But the biggest thing to remember is it's only paint and it's the cheapest thing to change so if your not happy with the colour you choose you can always try something else. Happy redecorating :)

If I were to go down this path I would try a carpet supplier that stocks end of rolls, off spec colours etc. The carpet will be cheaper than a regular carpet store, they'll be able to arrange the binding and you'll be able to select your piece of carpet there and then. By the time you buy the piece of carpet and spend a few hundred dollars on binding, you might not be that far ahead than purchasing a ready-made rug though.

Hi David What you could do is pull up the carpet and screed the floor with ardit floor leveller to create a gentle and barely noticeable gradient over the doorway and into the room. This is done all the time and would simply be a matter of talking to your local carpet shop about undoing the carpet (assuming your timber installer isn't a carpet shop), laying the screed and relaying the doorways. You only need a carpet layer although it is usually done over two days to allow the floor leveller to dry. The other way is that flooring distributors supply mdf ramps that are designed for ezactly these situations and again, it is just matter of getting a carpet layer to pull up the doorway, install the ramp and relay the doorway carpet. This is a same day solution although as the ramps are only doorway deep it is slightly more noticeable. Cheers

I like the idea of hardwood flooring and as previously said you can add nice rugs for comfort and texture, they can be changed out at any time for a different look or fashion, I found light carpet shows all spills and marks and as also previously said here dark colours show lint, animal fur and anything lighter like fluff ...I do think hardwood floors in the long run keep you from having to re-do carpet especially as you have no idea how the renters will treat your investment. I also find myself having hardwood flooring with rugs it is all so easy to keep clean.
