Comments (74)We went for a 70 cm induction stove top which works well - bit more space than 60 but doesn't eat up as much bench space. Our space was limited too, and we wanted to maximise both bench tops and storage. I'd go for an under cupboard range hood and us the above space for some more storage - besides it streamlines the look. I personally like a sink and a small one - using the small one for vegetable washing and smaller washing up works well for us. Our space (and the necessity for two corner cupboards) meant that we had to have a small dishwasher - Bosch 45cm wide (several brands make them). It works really well if you have space issues....See MoreHelp Needed on How to Tackle a Renovation
Comments (3)It comes down to yourselves with your skills of organisation and management and the time you have available. In many cases it may be better to engage a really good builder and leave them to the hassle of it all. Good builder's use good trades that use good quality suppliers. Many people have enough trouble choosing tiles let alone all the other stuff needed. If you've never done it before and have little if any experience then use a builder and watch what and how they do thing's. You'll then have some experience of the process and could then tackle it next time around. Keeping plumbing in the same or similar positions can save money if the plumbing is good. If it needs replacing then there's not a lot of saving's in many cases. Reconfiguring for a better layout may out way any cost saving's of keeping existing plumbing. Many trades will say to keep things where they are as it's expensive to relocate but never actually say how expensive it is; get it quoted first as it may not really be that expensive. Some client's baulk at spending $150 for an electrician to move a powerpoint..... it's worth it if it is in a better position!...See MoreEnsuite Renovation - Design Ideas - Please Help
Comments (9)my suggestion is similar to Paul's but with a lower counter (built in seat and or towel storage?) under the lower window sill with a 1500 wide vanity and wall cabinet... you could also have the bath against the window and have a freestanding storage cabinet or chair at the other end the vanity and showers ;locations haven't been moved but reducing the entry door to standard 820 would allow for a standard 1500 wide shower and the gaps around the door in the bedroom could be repaired with a wider architraves to save needing to plaster?...See MoreRenovation design help
Comments (6)I'd suggest to decide on a budget that you're comfortable with. You may not know costs but its what you can afford to spend. If you can still comfortably live with spending $50k then set that as budget or maybe its less maybe more, doesn't matter set it in stone first! Thats step 1! Step 2 is then deciding what you're needing, not wanting or wishing for but what you really need. Certainly add wishlist items but be prepared to compromise along the way so it suits step 1 (budget). This the Design Brief step. Vital for step 3! Step 3 is discussing the project with a designer, you may go through a few before you find one that understands costs and construction. This where reality will hit. Thats a good thing because a plan of attack can commence. Each project is different, different budget, different needs and wants, etc. As Dr has noted you could spend $100k or could spend less. Personally I'd probably combine existing kitchen and meals to have one large kitchen. I would relocate the dining area wall across to make it wider, 600mm - 1000mm would make a massive difference and allow a very comfortable dining area. I wouldn't do any other major works aside from renovating existing....See MoreTweeza
