I rather like how it's furnished in the photo. Are they the real estate photos? Does something like that seating arrangement appeal to you? There are many outdoor rugs that help define that kind of arrangement, and sisal works well too.

Tallish potted plants (all same colour pots) would look good since you can't attach anything to walls. Any cushions you choose, just check they are UV type/specified outdoor use.

The windows that overlook your courtyard, are they to your apartment? Just wondering if privacy is an issue.

I would suggest a seating arrangement with either a coffee table and/or side tables. An outdoor rug will ground the arrangement. Another idea is a hammock. Lots of large, same-colour (white would reflect heat) pots with leafy plants would look good. If you plan to also use the area for alfresco dining, a table and chairs would also render the large space very useful. I envy you that great area! Enjoy.

A long planterbox with bamboo will give a covered look, plus other potted plants as suggested above.

You could fashion a deck with pallets to create different levels and more interest.

From there, colour it up! Think of your scheme and use pots, tables, chairs etc to bring those colours in.

Cipriano, like your photo examples and clever deck idea. Amazing bamboo can grow in such narrow confines; makes it such a versatile plant.

About the pallet deck...would you enclose the ends as a snake deterrent as well as for aesthetics? And what foundation would you suggest it should sit on so as not to rot/deteriorate? Concrete pad?
