Ty, have you ascertained you have available space in attic to do this? My thoughts are that an inspection of roof cavity to see how the trusses and joists are located, where venting, electrical and plumbing works are located to determine what would need to be done to accomodate a raised ceiling. My advice is to speak with few renovation builders about your project (take your house drawings), inspect your roof if they will, and provide a quote. I would want to make sure they have done similar renovations. You can ask to see photos of their work and list of references. Meeting with them will also give you a pretty good idea about how,it might be to work with them.

Would depend on existing roof structure.

It would be quite difficult to do if it has a truss roof as you'd be cutting the bottom chord.... Not ideal as the truss is an engineered member that relies on the parts working together.

If its a conventional cut roof then there is the possibility of doing it. Still a bit of roof framing work beforehand before cutting the ceiling joists.

Personally you'd have to be pretty keen for the higher ceiling due to cost which no doubt could make it uneconomical, although it could look pretty good once done.

As noted get it checked and estimated first. $250 per room is nowhere near the required amount....I'd expect another zero on that figure....

Very expensive, but a reno near us by a local architect, raised the ceiling in the entrance and passage way only but it made a big difference to the feel of the house cheers
