need help with where to start with my reno.
Comments (5)Depends on your house and what you want. We planned out our renovation and have drawn a timeline in pencil on the wall and put the things we want to do on post it notes that we re arrange as we rethink what to do first etc... It keeps changing, things move up and down the line but every idea is still there. First thing is to get imagining and have fun thinking of what you want the place to look like. Look for some photos of rooms you like for inspiration and have fun scheming and dreaming! Then figure out your budget and see what can be done from your dream list. I think organising your to do list into chunks according to manageable budget amounts works. So like $5000, $2000 or whatever. The main things to do first is decide what you can leave as is, what works and plan the house around that. The less you have to change the better. The first things to do will be the ones that have the biggest impact, so typically new appliances, maybe new floors, reorganising rooms to flow and function practically, maximise sunlight and airflow, storage. Again it will depend entirely on what your house needs....See MoreNeed to decide on stone benchtop brand and colour...
Comments (21)Oh excellent, thank you, it looks lovely! I have been to many of the suppliers but QQ is too far away for me with a screaming baby in the car and they won't mail me samples! Once I choose a stone mason I will view them in person because I hear even with Quartz each slab can be a little different. I was thinking maybe Lexicon quarter...warmed up a bit...but I'm not sure. Thanks for the warning, I do have time on my side so I might go get some sample pots and see what actually looks ok with our lighting....See MoreI need your HELP with Reno Floor Plan!
Comments (20)Hi siriuskey I apologise for not replying to you earlier but I have been reviewing your last plan over and over wanting to use the layout of the kitchen but concerned about the other changes. My main concern was the wiw/laundry area and the loss of a room, either the study or bed 4. But the idea gave me food for thought and I have been trying to work out a solution. Where there’s a will there’s a way! I can see exactly what you mean about having the Butler’s Pantry in front of the window which was a major concern of mine even though I thought the servery was a really good idea. Thank-you for taking the time to point this out …and in such depth which would’ve been very time consuming for you! I must admit it was a surprise to see the kitchen placement in your last layout. I would never ever have thought about doing that but loved the idea! I have tweaked the plans a little by simplifying some of the changes and adding a few of my original ideas and I think I have come up with a solution. I will be very interested on your thoughts! I placed the existing furniture (to size) into each of the rooms to see how it works with the new layout. Oh… and I love your suggestion about being able use the dining/family rooms as either! I have also left the wall between the family room and lounge to see how it works before removing it completely but opened it up with double doors allowing entry from the front door to the main area...and a view of the fireplace is always welcoming. It’s a great idea for a toilet and shower to service the pool area under the deck downstairs…I think that would work as there’s no limestone there (and no we’re not in SA) but I’II look at that once I get organised with these plans! Thank-you again for your time and help…your feedback on my ‘tweaking’ would be greatly appreciated!...See MoreIdeas for a bathroom reno needed
Comments (25)A late input, going with Oklouise idea for the shower and WC, I'd like to change the bathroom access to the other side, this allows more space for the WC and it's not the first thing you pass on entering the bathroom. I also don't like having to walk through the WIR to get to the ensuite The following adds a study desk, this can be closed off from the bedroom with a lovely barn door on the wall of the bedroom. The WIR would have double sliders that open together. so it can be closed off, plus a tall mirror on the end wall. A pocket door opens into the ensuite with a wall of storage and double vanity along the same wall as the study desk. The linen storage is 600 x 600 with the vanities stepped back to 450 deep which adds interest and defines the vanity The bath is against the wall of the WC and shower, placement of WC to be decided once it's inspected by a builder/plumber, I would prefer the WC to be on the window end for more privacy Plus an Ottoman in front of the window which could have white timber shutters to allow light, privacy and air...See Moreddarroch
