Hi, They way it was set up before did allow for a headboard and the client kept losing their pillows in the night, they also had to duck to be allow to get in and out of the bed, so, practically, the layout simply did not work for them. The brief was that the room was "empty" and they wanted to "fill the space" and make it "cosy", hence the positioning of the bed, for practically and spatial ascetics, fulfilling the client brief, our primary goal.

Well, here's a concrete example for him. Our bed is 2200. The wall at the end of the bed is 3200 from the wall at the head. I decided it was too tight to get my 500 dresser in at the end of the bed, so I put in a 300 bookcase. The space between bed and bookcase (ie 700) is fine - not ideal, maybe, but entirely workable. Don't sweat the small stuff. Your plan looks fine, and you've got room at the end of your bed for a nice sitting area.

Consider a cavity slider. That way you don't loose precious space in the bedroom, or kitchen, because of the rotating space for opening the door(whichever way you choose to have it open). It is also much easier to slide closed and even if a little ajar, gives very limited views into your bedroom. We access our bedroom through the pantry. Most people don't think we have a 4th room, or a master, even though they can see it across the deck from the lounge. They see the pantry wall and think thats it. It has given us extra insulation from people making breakfast or being in the the open plan area beyond. It is an unusual entrance, but we designed it like this to get around the noise factor that drove us nuts in our last house. We can have a sleep in now and never notice breakfast noise from the other household members.
