Comments (2)Beautiful home frontage ...I understand your desire to update colour but it is a classic style and the colours are traditional and I think very classy I had the same desire to change colours in a previous home but was talked out of it thank goodness and kept it traditional but I added an extension and added my updated colours to that I'm very glad I didn't change the original colour scheme...See MoreExterior colour and facade update advice
Comments (10)Maybe paint facials white and put some white cladding in front gable so eye drawn to that not windows not a blue tinged white eg not dulux lexicon but warm white to go with cream blinds eg natural or polar white or grand piano 1/4 strength would also go nicely with woodland Grey and jasper - cb basalt also goes nice with woodland Grey maybe go 1/2 strength on walls as it’s a nice neutral black/Greywhixh would detract from purple tinge...See MoreSearching for a builder for facade renovation of Californian Bungalow
Comments (0)We have a Californian Bungalow in Sydney and have done an extension to the back. However looking for some facade renovation work to the front. These are the "cosmetic" touches. Do not want to modernise it, just to restore it to its original form plus replace existing windows in the front porch with some nicer windows: - Replace the front porch roof - Replace the existing front windows - Removal of carport - Replace the front cement rendered facade with half brick/half cement - Paint Any advice/recommendations of Sydney inner west builders? Existing house House 2 doors down which has original features, however we would like to maintain windows in the front porch area. Porch windows like these would be nice:...See MoreCalifornian Bungalow Exterior Colour Scheme - thoughts?
Comments (7)You have a fantastic period home and the colours you have selected are following contemporary fashion trends. However your terracotta tiled roof and chimneys are very orange, and the greys you have selected will make them see even more orange. I would be looking to the grey/greens to counterbalance the strength of the terracotta. Just remember that the fashionable greys of today are the daggy mission browns of tomorrow, especially when used on a period home like yours. This is why the current colour scheme looks so bad - as it is not original and was probably done in the 1980's. Have a look at this Haymes paint resource if you want some refreshing inspiration that is beyond today's generic greys: https://www.haymespaint.com.au/explore-colours/heritage-authentic-colours/identifying-period-styles/ Best of luck with your considerations, Dr Retro of Dr Retro House Calls...See MoreIn & Out Tiling Projects Pty Ltd
