Help decorating the living room please!?
Comments (29)Definitely add a rug with some pattern and texture to break up the conglomerate of dark colours both with the tiled floor and chocolate modular lounge. The rug you choose will then dictate what scatter cushions to select for your lounge. You may want to consider asking your landlord if a art hanging track can be installed this way you could hang a lovely print or artwork behind sofa. With an art track it is usually powder coated white and installed just below cornice and looks like part of the cornice. You are then given by the installer acrylic hanging wires that slot into this track making it versatile to hang either a series of smaller prints or one large one and you can change as often as you like without any damage to the walls. Your artwork can also be the basis for selecting a rug and scatters. You will be amazed how by adding the rug, scatters and artwork will give instant warmth and personality to your room. You may also want to add a coffee table too. If it is a particularly beautifully patterned rug that is a real feature think of a glass coffee table so the rug can be seen. This may also keep heaviness out of the room that is happening with dark floor dark lounge. All the best! Camille Interior Designer Australia...See More"Need help with wall decor"
Comments (3)Maybe a nice rectangular artwork the same width of the cabinet above the TV or an interesting fabric wall hanging to match your decor...or you could have, again above the TV, a timber shelf that matches the timber in the cabinet or that in the floor...or that is painted to match the wall colour, having an ornamental front that would hide the power points....Did that explain the shelf? I'd do you a sketch if I knew how to upload it. Unless you are a minimalist you could have one or several interesting objects d'art on the shelf (no flower vases with water) or some books with classy-looking spines in a row between ornamental or plaiin book ends....See MoreNeed help decorating the strangest-shaped living room ever
Comments (17)I think the problem is actually not so much the shape of the room but the fact that at the "pitch of the roof" part you have a large full length window and fireplace. Essentially, because of all this there is no wall to put your back against or place furniture against. My rectangular room has similar issues with a corner window facing the fireplace. We just put the kids toys there on the floor and low kid size stuff like a toy box. You can't put any large pieces there. So, I say, start by completely ignore the top triangle of the room. Its essentially dead or unusable space, but will add to the feelings of space and light in the room. Arrange your large furniture pieces in the bottom square portion, around a large square rug perhaps that would define the space. It might feel better that way. Then arrange your other bits around that. I think if you try to work the square it will be way easier to organise the room. Emphasising a square layout will feel more comfortable. Plants in that light bright corner was a good suggestion, they soften the angles. Hope that helps!...See MoreDark joinery doors with wall colour walk in pantry
Comments (4)Thanks for you opinion, Judy! I will ask colour selection consultant whether I can get the same colour of WIP door as joinery doors once I hear from the builder. It has been hard to reach them lately lol...See Morelisajanekelly
