Comments (27)ideally the spaces should be designed to the function and understanding of the use.. ie inside to out, rather than the other way..... clearly this is an oversized space for the function/furniture currently, since you are actively looking to "fill it up"...(usually it's the opposite!!, we're trying to clean it out!) What I would suggest is centralising the dining table to the kitchen & island reorientated longways (ie same as the bench) with perhaps then a centralised buffet feature or sitting area where you currently have the dining table.... This will balance this main space much better - two tables side by side will look weird, but a centralised dining zoning with flanking sitting/lounge areas of different scales would work and possibly enable better flow around this space This is the sort of space that could hold a massive 3m long table but it needs to work with the proportion/length of the room rather than against it Good luck! Comments (4)Wow, that's a very tricky layout! I love OKlouise's change to the laundry and kitchen! I can see why the TV won't work though. I don't think there's any perfect solution here. What about some open shelving, housing the TV, coming out adjacent to the garage door - this will block an unsightly door way and create a bit more of a nook for the living room. As a slight adaptation of OkL's plan could you put the TV on an angle behind the front door and move the furniture around to suit, perhaps? And another idea - getting the TV off the floor and onto the wall would help enhance the feeling of space - you could keep existing furniture arrangement and invest in a bracket that swivels the TV out from the 'garage door' wall, it'll be closer for viewing, then you can push it back flat against the wall when not in use. Best of luck! :)...See MoreHow can I use this open plan space well?
Comments (4)Oh thank you oklouise. Our issue with the “lounge” area is how long the room is... with the tv on the longest wall, and the chairs on the opposite wall we feel so far away from the tv. Dilemma...See MoreStef Anie
