Need help recovering 70s chairs with great bones, Eames lounge style
Comments (25)Thanks for all your comments. We've decided to go with a soft tan leather and will probably cover just one of the chairs initially (we have two of them). I'll post a photo when it's reupholstered, which will be a few weeks away yet. Looking forward to breathing new life into the chair. It's so comfortable and we love that it's locally made. Thanks Macu Design for the fabric link - some really beautiful and unusual designs, love the Australian inspired patterns and will keep them in mind for cushions and maybe wallpaper. Meilin42, I agree. The lines of the chair are beautiful and would be overwhelmed with patterned fabric. We looked at the Kvadrat/Maharam fabrics, great options, but couldn't decide on a colour! Very tempted by the citrus, deep purples and teal, but as upholstering is so expensive, we've opted for a classic leather look....See MoreHelp. Need advice on what style sofas to put in this space..
Comments (3)Hi Gioenne... We are empty nesters but have two dogs (one large) which is why there is no coffee table. I've ordered two small side tables from a local furniture maker which will have a modern feel but made from reclaimed wood.. We let our dogs on the furniture so it has to be durable... I'm leaning towards modern low sofas. We entertain a lot in summer......See Morestyling gurus..advice needed!
Comments (1)Hi Zakia, I’m certainly not a guru but the design screams mid century modern. Perhaps search for images based on that. It’s a very adaptable style which fits very retro to ultra modern and unlimited colour palettes. What is the style of your home? That will need to be factored into your decisions as will any other fittings and the furniture and style of adjoining rooms. As a starting point, if your room is large enough, place your piece away from the wall. Pair with an Eames type lounge chair, low line timber occasional table(s); textured and patterned floor rug; and bright, sculptural lighting and decorative pieces in colourful, opaque glass and plastics. I’ve not included photos because I worry about copyright, but Houzz and searching will give you lots of inspiration. Good luck. Cheers, JD...See MoreAdvice on “Twigs” - lounge room styling advice
