Hi all Just thought I'd give an update. Even though hubby and I discussed with each other that we will wait til we move in to get a dining table. Hubby went back to the store where we bought the sofa set to buy something, then he went ahead and bought the matching dining set because he got a good deal for it. Oh well. White isn't great with brown. Earthy colours are coming in.

What you have created is a beautiful clean open space. But that is only the foundation. Now what is needed is you. You need to inject your personality and your family’s into the space. For nowhere do I see anything that tells me who lives there. And this is something you can add to as you live and use the space - in effect turning a gorgeous room into a home. Perhaps a vase of flowers on table or photos on sideboard or yes perhaps eventually changing mirror to a piece of art that grabs you. The trick is to not rush this stage. Live with the room and gradually add items you love to personalise it as yours. You have created a beautiful backdrop now it just needs you.

A dining room rug should ideally have 24" or more of extra space, surrounding the table. The guests should be able to pull out the chairs easily without tripping over the rug. Choose flat weave or low pile rugs because spills are inevitable from the dining table. Maintenance and cleaning become simple with flat carpets. You can also choose carpet tiles as they can be set up according to the shape and size you need. Rugs come in many colors, patterns, and textures. Feel the texture if you are purchasing a natural fiber rug because natural fiber rugs are hard and rough as compared to cotton. Match the shape of the rug with that of the room. Match the rug shape to the room shape and the table shape.
