Kitchen dilemma
Comments (14)Maybe look into bench top overlays. Eg. http://www.unitedstonemelbourne.com.au/benchtop_overlay Adding a splashback and changing handles will also update. You could take out the open style upper cabinet and replace with a floating shelf or two....See MoreKitchen Cabinets and sink
Comments (5)Just a few thoughts from my recent kitchen experience. I was told by Laminex that I couldn't do a handless kitchen with their product. Also the kitchen guy didn't like the idea of a handless cabinet with a integrated DW. He said that the force from the pull to open it can be damaging or something... I kind of glazed over after I realised the DW I had ordered wasn't going to work like I hoped and would need a handle on the panel (I ended up changing it for a semi integrated model). I had a drop in sink in my last kitchen, it was sort of flattish trim where it sat over the benchtop. I found that because it was flat I would end up with a lot more water splashing over the bench. Or maybe that just me. Good luck!...See MoreAdvice on Kitchen Sink Please
Comments (10)I've a friend with a Blanco sink that looks similar. The big issue is keeping it clean, because it's very hard to get the gunk out of those squared off corners. Personally, I'd go with something with rounded corners, even if they're only slightly rounded. We have an Oliveri Sonetto, which has modestly rounded corners (but is more expensive). http://www.harveynorman.com.au/kitchen-appliances/sinks-taps/oliveri-sonetto-undermount-sink.html That said, I don't think there's anything wrong with the quality of Blancos, it's the straight edge design that looks good in the magazines but is a pain to live with. You might have a look at Abey and some of the mid-range Clark sinks as well (our last house had a very serviceable Clark Monaco)....See MoreDouble sink on Butler instead in the Main Kitchen
Comments (54)Hi Siri, appreciate your time in changing the layout but I still prefer my current one. although I'm happy to resize things but not move around. I made a mock-up last night but not sure if the changes i made will still fit. I've convert the linen to WIL although not sure if the modification i made is enough. I'll send this through to my builder. Thanks M.B. for your valuable input. I also do handwashing but my concerns: on placing the sink are 1. I have to do undermount sink to look good but then I need a drying rack beside it. so logically the the normal sink is better functionally but no pleasing to the eye :). 2. Wife doesn't want a mess in the island bench. also, she wants to utilize the whole thing when we host parties (food in the bench). 3. I prefer facing the window to see my garden/landscape while washing. And if we decided to use the DW, atleast, it's all there 4. Normal double sink and DW will come together in the butler. once the plates are dried up, we can store them in the cabinet?...See Moremelissa2home
