What do you enjoy most about your garden?
Comments (8)@midesign0401, Hi Megan, yes it is heaven, I take a look at it all and sigh in happiness!!! As for the house, there's a bit of money to go ahead but this is now our busy time of the year, as we are hay contractors spending many many hours in tractors. However, I intend to get onto the next job ASAP which is laying the sill tiles around the veranda. It's a bit of an old fashioned look but these tiles will protect our limestone bricks from water stain when it's raining constantly in winter. The water will run off the sill tile and drop just a little shy of the bricks. Limestone is not only rough in our case but very porous and we also plan to have these tiles on all the window sills too, like the old tan brick houses from the 50's and the chocolate brown sill they had on their windows, only ours are cream not chocolate. It will be easy to wipe the sills from time to time and keep the house neat and clean. Once these tiles ar in place, 80mtrs of tiles, then we can concrete the veranda and then the roof iron can go on hopefully before Christmas. We have all the bricks for the home but need to find another $16,000 for all the rest of the windows. We are only using our own income, not borrowing at all so we have to do a budget and see if we can allow the money for the windows as the income we earn from Sept to Dec, is about 90% of our income for the entire year. It's taken 7 years now to get to this point having spent more that $80,000 already as I'm keeping a diary of spending. Goodness knows how much a 30+ square home with pool would cost if we had to pay a builder!!! We are owner builders and we've done everything ourselves including digging all the foundation and laying over 5000 standard bricks and digging the hole for the pool and fitting the pool including all the plumbing. We put in all the concrete stumps, layed the floor and fitted all the underfloor plumbing with a plumber friend guiding us along. We also put up all the framing and roof trusses, so we are absolutely chuffed with our abilities and progress....See Moreneed advice in decorating new living room
Comments (12)Hi Fabulous Pink, Your pendants shown here are quite formal, so with that in mind, I would actually go for the more formal 'first' floor lamp pictured. The blue and grey cushions you previously posted are also more informal in colour and image, (especially the 'coral' shapes) so do not immediately tie together with the pendant selected here. That doesn't mean you can't introduce some blue into the room. Just consider the 'theme': is it formal, casual, classic, modern, eclectic, etc....and stick to that. It can be a bit formulaic, but if you haven't any experience, it is a more fool-proof way and you will most definitely develop ideas as you go, as Susan suggested, but you don't want to make costly mistakes or end up getting totally lost or bamboozled. Re the scatter cushions above, I like the texture of the first two but you will also need to add a solid colour (maybe this is where the blue comes in - perhaps in velvet, so it adds a softness as well as texture) and a throw rug in similar tones....See MoreLounge room decor advice needed.
Comments (22)I would paint your bookshelf the same colour as the walls and stuff it with, well, books! I would paint the built-in corner unit to match and just use it for potplants - ivy that hangs down would look good. As for the coffee table, if the room is small, what I did in our little family room was hunted around and found a large curved hunk of tempered glass from Freedom and it sort of 'floats' and looks invisible in some lights. Seriously, I think the line was called Ghost and was very reasonable (they also had a side table to match). Throw a bit of cherry red around and see how it looks with the creams and the taupes. Here is a pic of the coffee table....See MoreNeed advice on decorating my bedroom
Comments (51)The bed needs more pillows with texture and patterns. Add black highlights in the accessories. Also get a lamp for the side table and a tray for accessories etc candles, vase. A few accessories for the desk like a hand-shaped jewelry holder etc. The things that will make the room less boring will be a rug with a visually appealing and exciting pattern (not a solid colour), a chair (the more interesting the better) , new bedding will create a focal point and accessories for the side table and desk. Go to freedom or adairs etc and they'll be staff members to help you choose out furniture, accessories, bedding etc. Show them your pictures and speak to them and they'll know how to help....See MoreTerri Ferdinando
