Comments (8)Choose a traditional style of bunkbeds. On the lower one add a piece of plywood to one side. On the upper one add a piece of plywood to the opposite side that reaches to the ceiling. The room is now divided. If your building skills are lacking you can hang curtains instead. You would have to attack them to the bed for the lower bunk and the ceiling for the upper bunk. Or you can arrange the beds so that they are perpendicular to one another. If you use this arrangement, a dresser or a desk can be placed in the excess space underneath the raised bed. With either arrangement, choose a bottom bed that has built-in drawers for storage. Either choose a theme they both like (outdoors, skating, etc) and paint the walls accordingly; a neutral color is best...or you can paint the walls behind each person's bed in a color that she chooses and make each bed with different linens. Allow each girl select an area rug she likes and place the rugs on their respective sides of the room. If you already have 2 beds in the room put them on the 276m wall right next to each other with a room divider (or screen.) You could put the beds against the walls with 2 narrow bookshelves or dressers (side by side) between them. Have one facing toward one bed and the facing toward the other bed> I wish you all the best!...See MoreAn extra master bedroom?
Comments (6)Is there a proper bathroom downstairs or would you add an ensuite? Play rooms are a bonus with small children so if you opened up that room by widening the doorway or added a larger sliding door (to close off when you don;t want to see in there) it could improve the of the hallway. Later it could become the media room for teenagers or a guest room. Do you use the upstairs living area much? Maybe a small nursery could be built in to the study nook part until the children are older. I don't know if I would like a balcony opening off young child's bedroom for safety....See MoreStuck for a bedroom design/ style idea
Comments (20)Thanks everyone :) I'm not worried about the layout of the room at the moment.. i just need decorating ideas. i currently use the wall above my desk for a pinboard-type thing so wouldnt want it beside the window.. also the window is quite low so dont want to block any of the sun that comes in. at some point i will also swap the desk for a dresser with mirror, and put bedside table between beds. i love this colour scheme (below).. this pic is from a living room but i thought i could base my style around it? any ideas on style/colour/finish of bedheads/head boards.. also bed covering.. i could possibly do a self patterned grey?? any ideas based on this? thanks!...See MoreIdeas for teen bedroom/s downstairs.
Comments (39)My daughter ran her business from her bedroom until they could afford a 3 bedroom house, their 2 bedder with two boys and no where else to fit an office was a very difficult time which thankfully they all survived. Having your office in your bedroom should be avoided at all cost, as you never leave the office behind as my daughter found out. Your bedroom is where you go to relax , I certainly wouldn't give up my sanctuary for anyone, even my kids. You are there full time so it makes sense. Your house already has enough rooms, except for making a small change to allow for another bedroom albeit small next to the bathroom as per my suggestion, Both of these rooms have space for the boys to have a desk (they don't need a lot of storage being part time) The desk in the living area can be built in to hide an office. This is a low cost solution and won't damage resale value. If down the track you can afford the new deck, try to work out to fit a room underneath as a hang out (media) area for the boys. not sure about WA but rooms like these in some states can have ceiling height at 2100, depends on what name!! you give them. My son is in a similar situation to you, except he now lives in a Studio Apartment in Sydney, so when he has his two kids 50 50 they make do in that space and seem to manage very well....See MoreMarie Williamson
