Need advice on an outdoor living area
Comments (8)I've done that with an old old weatherboard...very small house. Did a semi enclosed elevated deck...as the house is on piers..slatted a-la-old Queenslander and partially enclosed with transparent roofing against the wind. The roof is colourbond interspersed with transparent corrugated panels. Have vines growing in through the slats from a garden bed near the front entry....maked for a lovely indoor-outdoor space with many uses. The vine I have is a very old plant calle Podranea...twice a year produces lilac blooms and is evergreen. Requires maintenance as is very vigourous. the rooms along the northern side of the house all open out on to this lovely indoor/outdoor space. Have a lovely fountain as well as hanging baskets. This space has opened up the whole house and protects both in summera and winter. It has made a difference to the whole ambience...so good idea....most probably your venture will involve a more modern aopproach,,,I tried to keep the "old house" image. An indoor.outdoor room is the best improvement in my opinion. Could not do without mine....See MoreBefore & After: Transformed backyard living!

Comments (3)just had a look at your existing plans for the second storey.. 1/ I'd make it all open plan .. First I'd move your bed 4 downstairs into the theatre room..reason ? bathroom is existing down there..you can turn it into a master suite..bathroom..study as retreat. which then leave you all that room ..bed 4 ..kitchen ..meals..lounge..foyer to just be one huge living area.. from that living area you can pop in a stacker door/bi folds to lead to your screen verandah. Personally I'd get rid of the screens and open it right up with banisters so you can have fresh air flowing in. You can do the same with the front as well to make it one huge area without much changes....See MoreHow should I arrange my kitchen/living/dining space?
Comments (13)you need a large rug underneath your living room furniture to sit ot all on there - not half on / half on. to connect the dining to the kitchen i wouid add a pendant over the kitchen bench with a smaller matching one over the dining table - that will connect the spaces. Definitely a console or buffet with a mirror above it on the wall with whee your dining table is situated. the mirror will reflect the mood lighting of the pendant back into the mirror. Use another rug in a coordinating color - not the same ( as your living) to them tie all the spaces together....See Moremerync
