Comments (10)I think go for some ethnic textiles and fabrics... give it a boho vibe! This space is very unusual and anything too sleek and modern would look odd. Definately not black leather! I think go for 2X 2 seater plus a few armchairs rather than a large monolithic sofa. That way you break up the bulk of the sofa and can play with the arrangement a bit. I think maybe having the armchairs mismatched with patterned finishes would look good. And then the 2 seater couches matching. Perhaps in a navy blue or burgundy, but I like the use of mustard yellow, pink, grey and burgundy in the linked room. Then look for a large imported rugs, either from India, pakistan, Iran or afghanistan. Rich patterns would look great. That will give you a square/rectangle shape to arrange the seating around rather than the walls....See MoreKitchen Reno 2017/2018 - thoughts & ideas?
Comments (7)That looks fantastic. Thank you. Thank you. I had considered the access via the garage to the house via the laundry or through the workshop/bedroom. It came up as an idea from a prospective buyer when I had the house on the market a couple of years ago as he had 4 children. I changed my mind about selling in the end and figured while I was doing the kitchen I would have a chippie put up the wall and door at the same time. Don't need another bedroom myself but it could be a "man-cave" or study instead of the current use as storage area for "stuff" and maybe an advantage later for any new buyer. The pantry on the other side looks interesting but would mean losing the larger island wouldn't it? Food for thought. I am glad you think the existing cabinetry could be re-used as that was my plan. How much should I allocate for a reno as a general rule? A...See MoreWhat colour should my exterior be?
Comments (21)I love that you have gone for a zinc roof on shed and house. With zinc there is no issues with fading and mould and the matching roofs are enough to match your house and shed. Also it is timeless and leaves more options if you change your mind down the track about wall colour. Like you I am also on a country block and had the same dillema when building my home a few years back. My shed is Jasper with zinc roof and guttering. I debated for ages about painting my house shades to match jasper. Someone said to me.....don't make your house an extension of your shed!! So glad I listened. I painted our house a green similar to coloubond mangrove and went for zinc roof and guttering. Everyone went berserk about the zinc roof and guttering (and the green) when I suggested it, but it looks wonderful!.... and very quality. The brown undertones in the green and jasper brown compliment well. The house also has zinc window frames. You want your house colours to look nice next to shed and also you want the house to catch your eye sooner, but not look too matchy. My suggestion is that you go for zinc guttering on the house to match roof, and introduce a different colour to your house that has grey undertones to look nice next to the shed. Hope this helps. I'm still loving my outside colour choices. (The inside ones are a different story and Im ready to get the beushes and rollers out again.) Good luck!...See MoreHow should we decorate our corridor?
Comments (30)How are you going with your project, Shweta? We have a similar problem; a long entrance and a big blank wall. - One or two prints would get lost. - A large one would be disproportionate, and there’d still be lots of empty space. - A gallery could get expensive. - We don’t want family photos. To decorate the whole area, I‘m going to give faux wainscoting a go. I can no longer find the inspirational photo I’m basing it on, but these may give you an idea. I‘ll include a narrow hall table, a plant or two, and the print and mirrors I’ve had custom framed, like this: eg: Or if you don’t want the faux wainscoting (frames), something like this may break up the emptiness. Good luck with your project. :-)...See MoreIlluminide Interiors
