The space was kind of small so you need to maximize it. Choose a sofa that doesn't take much space. Rugs can be ok but choose what you prefer best (although I suggest Moroccan rugs to get that expensive look). Finally, wall paint color does wonders as well. Choose what's relaxing to the eye like shades of blue, green and purple.

I could not read room measurements, sorry.but room looks small. Remember buy to scale. You post a dream rm. go with it. Do some budget shopping. I would replace dining tale with a round glass, with 4 high back leather chairs in color. Not sure what stores you have but in U.S. Pier One has some in Teal. If you like wall wood in yr pic. That looks like plywood, cheap buy at any lumber store. Most will cut to size. And then paint. I like the black. Wall colors a soft gray. Sofa charcoal , with 2 armless chairs in a print. Go the aqua, gray, teal print pl on either side of ottoman.. Repeat on pillows for sofa. A square ottoman in black or a zebra print, 36" get a much longer lower media for TV. On windows remove, verticals blinds, add rod to ceiling all the way across both windows. Add panels on each end 2 shades darker than walls, a woven fabric. Do same on slider. On window only add a black bamboo shade mount top In side window. For texture. Area rug in front of sofa 5x7 place 6" from legs of sofa. A silver gray shag. in dining if going rd glass table 6 ft round in a teal, or peacock. Push sofa back 2 ft. Move table, unless is centered with hang light. I would put wood in area behind TV. Some big art in dining, post more pic hard to see all wall space. Some silk palms to fill dead corners next to TV. On dining table a big basket fill with fake orchids. Since we can't see whole rm I guess the way you have furn now is way to go. You could also go a 3 seater sectional, with a chaise on left side, same color or go light gray, and then go one chair swivel for TV watching . In same print as above. Would work too. Putting area rugs will help warm up rm as well as new window coverings. A floor lamp next to sofa, iKea has some stainless ones good price. Ck Ikea for area rugs to.and art.

I'm not usually a lover of TVs in front of windows but in this case I think the TV area would become much more usable that way. Position it between the two narrow windows and then a decent size sofa can run along what is currently the TV wall. An L shape sectional would create a much better defined TV viewing area and keep the room as open aka large looking as possible. The dining setting should run at a right angle to the sliding door and I think should be lighter than what you currently have. Glass is a good idea or white but make sure it is lightweight in appearance. You can pick up something at IKEA that would do the trick. Why not buy IKEA chairs ie those simple white ones they sell for about $50? Paint each one a different colour ie yellow, mauve, blue, pink or whatever colours you prefer. Then get some artwork in black and white for the wall behind the sectional sofa and throw some coloured cushions to match the chairs on the sofa. Black and white chevron rugs are every where right now and would sit nicely in the L shaped area created by the sofa. Add a floor lamp near the window and you're done.

I would definitely keep the TV where it is. You could look at wall mounting it or at least a taller TV unit to make the room look taller.
The leather sofa is a good plan for if your taste changes then a funky armchair for next to the window.
I'd go a lamp/side table instead of a coffee table to make the area look less cluttered and show off the rug. You could put a hall table between your two doors if you needed the storage.
I absolutely love charcoal but it does make everything look smaller. With the beautiful light along that wall you might be okay though.

I have an open plan home too but mine looks a bit larger. I would open the space instead of trying to make rooms using the furniture. If there is no other wall, you could put your couch where the tv is and place the TV on a smaller table on an angle where your gas connection is. I would also lighten and brighten the furnishings with chair covers, cushions and maybe even a stretchy lighter couch cover (good too as you can wash so keep fabric on couch clean). I would add some drama and frame the windows with ceiling to floor side drapes leaving the rest for natural light. You can easily do yourself with some cheap cotton fabric and some curtain hardware (as they are not functional, you just need to hang and drape on sides). Id turn your dining table the other way and get some nice stuff happening on your fence outside to draw the eye to the out doors. You could grow creepers, ivy or hang some trailing plants in a row from the fence. There are some great pots that hook onto the top of fences for this so no drilling required. You could also combine fake trails with real until the real ones grow for instant green. Amazon have cheap fake trailing ivy etc. Or, Put some ficus or other trees in pots along the fence. Id repeat some green indoors too ie a pot here and there in corners as you have so much light. Id also get a washable rug to cosy up the tiles and make it look less stark ie one you can throw in the washing machine! I just bought a soft one from target for $25! Alternatively, buy an outdoor plastic one as they can be hosed. I use one of those too and as I have pets, tits great. They have some cool designs too. Chair covers will update your dining chairs and are cheap on sale at places like spotlight and kmart. Lastly, Id look on gumtree for some cool lamps or a hanging light for your dining area. You can be modern but always balance with some natural elements like wood so maybe a wood based lamp or a couple of wooden ornaments. :)

I’d have couch on tv wall tv on an angle off a side wall as this is what small open plan is no separate areas else crowds out benefits of open plan
