Comments (10)I just noticed you posted a duplicate dilemma. After viewing photos of your home, I think the paint colors I suggested are Perfect-AND-DEFINITELY paint the ceiling one of the 2 colors mentioned. When selecting a rug, consider one with texture, subtle pattern, and at least a shade or 2 darker than the floor. Best of Luck!...See MoreColour scheme for living room
Comments (14)Teal works really well with dark chocolate brown and beige (greeny blue teals with deep brown leather sofas or tables and caramel walls pop and yet are homely and comfortable) so a rug underneath the table and sofa to delineate that space with teal in it or all teal (I would go for a pattern as you have very neutral pieces the one from Kathy above with caramel and beige is perfect I think) could work -ditto curtains and cushions. Given the neutral pieces you could add pops of another colour depending on the teal tones you use. Also lighter turquoise tones that sort of layer with teal - its deeper cousin.... a turquoise ceramic (or other objects) with a toning teal one ( teal and turquoise can vary on the blue-green spectrum) and a lovely caramel coloured piece ( things work well together in 3's I find) all of varying heights shapes and some texture on at least 1 - would look great somewhere. Burnt orange (a more subtle tone than hot orange) can be a great and more adventurous addition as can khaki - just keep them subtle and mix it up. I have a great market bought cushion made from an old woollen tartan type blanket of aqua /turquoise, a light khaki and burnt orange with a caramel leather cross on it that looks so good on my dark brown leather sofa (sorry no photo on me)....See MoreAdvice please - a living room rug & decor
Comments (16)Thanks Kim and pottsy for sharing your ideas! @ Kim, I thought white colour will usually make the space look more expansive, but after hearing your comment that it'd lift the space, I googled some living room photos with a white rug and it's so true! I am also hoping to have a low maintenance living room - and I can imagine even a small stain, dart, even my hair.. will look so apparent on a white rug. So, even though a white, fluffy rug sounds so attractive especially in winter like now, I'll think twice. It'll be an investment piece we'd like to appreciate it for a long time. Instead, we can probably put fluffy pillows to create a warm winter look for a limited time:) l love the photo of the living room you shared. It gives me a comfortable and warm feeling, and I am particularly impressed about the use of the colours in the artwork and cushions. They go so well together, without showing too much effort/calculation (that's the pro...🥂). @ pottsy, thank you for reminding me that it's okay to be little bit playful in dressing up our favourite rooms. We also tend to choose simple, "boring" colours for our clothes (and we also own a couples of tops with stripes with combinations of colours from grey/navy/black and white), though I do like various colours (blue, green, light pink etc...). Like what you shared and also suggested by Kim, it's such a good idea to use some colours we are truely drawn towards (the issue with me is that there are a lot - in your case it seems to be warm colours?😊), because when we are surrounded by our favourite colours - rooms or cars - they give us energy. Thank you again for Kim and pottsy for keep sharing your great ideas and inspirations to help me shape my idea😊...See Morejulie herbert
