‘Facelift’ Colour scheme for render

Hello! What are people’s thought on the following;

Surfmist render colour, monument roof, dark oak garage door & merbau fence, light creamy aggregate driveway.

I have an old red brick house so definitely want to render it (have read all the reasons against) I love the contemporary look of contrasting light house and dark roof, however don’t want it to be too stark. I also worry a little about keeping a surfmist render clean, and the heat impact of such a dark roof (monument)

I don’t want ironbark (too blue) or woodland grey (too green) for roof, maybe basalt - but wonder if this will look too light in the full sun?

If I go for monument for the roof, should I choose a lighter grey for window trimmings?

Attached is a photo of my house just before I bought it, have already removed fence, brick paths (replaced with aggregate driveway and oversized aggregate pavers) started re- landscaping and replaced the garage door to dark oak (look - it’s steel) so those things can’t be undone but open to any other suggestions!

Would especially love to hear from people that used or considered the colours mentioned.

colours sound great but why not consider dark walls and light roof with the timber trims...i can't understand rendering or painting a good quality brick wall unless you love painting although roof tiles don't last for ever so consider a new Colorbond steel roof with upgraded insulation ...add modern fencing and rearrange the front entry path with a covered walkway or verandah and modern landscaping to highlight the path to the front door would also help improve the frontage

My neighbors dark painted roof tiles have now worn so it’s a patchy mess of black and whitish grey so I think it a waste of time unless you want to sell
As for colours, climate change means we must have light coloured roofs else increase suburban heat island effect and drain power for cooling it costs more to cool than heat a house
Your colours will look striking but unfortunately they’re not not practical (heat or dirt wise) or environmentally friendly so depends how you view the debate re environment v cosmetics

Don't waste your money rendering the bricks - that look will go out of fashion. Don't replace your tiles with a colourbond roof either as that would be giving you an inferior roof and colourbond roofs are noisy. Replace your front door and try and choose wrought iron bannister railing. Then start off fresh with your front garden; soften it with magnolia shrubs, white agapanthus and trailing plants such as erigon to trail over brickwork in the driveway. Your bricks show a lot of character; please don't render them.

Your house is going to blend in very well with it's surrounds once the timber has silvered off, if you choose to use colours like Colorbond Woodland Grey, Dulux "Pavings Stone" (left hand side of colour swatch in the image far below) and/or Dulux "Grey Mountain". Other darker colours that will work well in this setting include Dulux "Cambridge Hall" and Dulux "Nomadji" (mentioned before). These greys don't necessarily blend in with the fresh timber but look fantastic as the timber ages and the building is seen as a whole (see image far below). "Paving Stone" is a versatile medium, warm grey that looks really good as a render. It also works well as a neutral internal wall colour in rooms with lots of natural light. In the following image, Dulux "Grey Mountain" was used near the timber work and "Woodland Grey" on the garage walls to help the garage door become less noticeable. Remember that colours generally appear lighter than the sample when applied to external walls and darker when applied to internal walls.

The Bricks are OK, if you like them, keep that round feature deck in the brick and render the rest, or stone clad the feature and render the rest, or cheapest of all just paint the rest in a dark warm neutral and render the round feature in a lighter but similar tone. You have the windows to consider. If you changed the colour of them you could also change the overall colour scheme from warm to cool. Although a black and white scheme is current, it looks better on timber houses and in suburban and inner city areas in my opinion. There are lots of different elements to your house which would look more integrated if you chose a warm colour scheme with a maximum of 3 colours. You can even make the bricks work if you paint upstairs a warmer colour to match them and changed the tiles and front steps to wood. Wood integrates everything in a warm colour scheme.

A clearer description on what I suggested above but with the dark paint and brick colour 1) Surf Mist Roof 2) Surf Mist Gutters, Barge boards, down pipes, Garage Door 3) Surf Mist upper walls and upper part of ground floor with Surf Mist Windows 4) Bricks , Recycled Red Bricks (Austral) 5) Darker Lower colour Dune, or Jasper with matching windows 6) Front door Timber Choosing colours is a very difficult job, most people know what they like if they can see it, so visiting LOTS of display homes will help you, cheers

Hi Tracey I have just seen the bay window that will be at the end of your kitchen, it's full height and quite different to what I had imagined
