How to combine traditional furniture with modern furniture?
Comments (45)And when your child comes in from playing and sits on the $6000 chair and he's got an almost-melted chocolate bar in his cargo shorts (he's already been twitching all over the chair) and smeared hands slippery from trying to dig it out but already the chocolate's come through the shorts onto the chair, well, you do get the picture...@carolins. That's a neat website. Wish there was one for the US. Speaking of the your homeland, the Netherlands, my best friend relocated from there with his new bride twenty years ago. Every one in a while he misses the terrible weather. You know, cold, rainy, cloudy, foggy, and if and when we happen to get a day something like that (we're in N.E. Florida) he misses home! BTW he's one of the best physical therapists I've ever met and I used to go through them like toilet paper!. He got rid of a terribly bad spasm that I had in one form or another for three decades, and he did it in three sessions. It changed my life....See MoreNeed help with kitchen style
Comments (7)Hi Nicole, thanks for your message! I do love my kitchen. Our layout is absolutely perfect. I honestly wouldn't change anything. The island is 3m x 1.2m (nice and big) and the distance from cooktop bench to island is 1120mm. Cooktop bench is 2380mm. Sorry, on second thought I would change just one detail! The cupboards under the island on the stool side are push-open and it is actually very irritating as my kids don't sit still so they're constantly kicking them open with their feet/legs! Other than that, I love everything. I like having the sink in the island as I'm washing up more often than cooking so I can keep an eye on the rest of the house. We have a big bin drawer for separated rubbish and recycling next to the sink. Our dishwasher is on the other side. The microwave is under bench too with a drawer underneath and next to this is a smaller cupboard for kids plates, bowls, beakers (easy access for the kids to help themselves) and chopping boards. It all works well. Goodluck!...See MoreHelp me style my dining room on a budget please
Comments (54)I agree about the idea of putting roller blinds on your door , matching the colours of the others must mention about Annie Sloan paint : it is a chalk paint and you can apply it on any wood surface with at having to use primer, what " seals" the pain is the Annie Sloan wax you apply afterwards. You can Buy Annie Sloan on line , i use Annie Sloan a lot.it is expensive if you want the legs painted black to be smooth, just paint and wax , but one coat of Annie Sloan does not give a good coverage. It you want it " distressed" slightly, then just sand a few it on the edges afterwards, before the waxing With a slight " distressed" leg look, but you would need to give the top of the table a light sanding to " rough it up" on the edges if you want a good solid, coverage, Annie Sloan is not the right choice have a look on eBay, I have just bought some cages light to fit near my table outside ( I was just playing around with them yesterday before the electrician comes toda), they were only like $46 each...See More1955 little beauty.
Comments (39)@siriuskey not related to this thread per se but I believe all cabinetry with the exception of timber comes with white laminate inside (unless you order custom and pay for the inside to be painted). We just had black cabinetry installed in our lounge and the back of the doors are white. I was shocked so contacted everyone I know with new kitchens in dark colours and they ALL had polyurethane cabinets with white laminate on the back of dark/coloured doors....See Morebigreader
