Living room decor help!
Comments (26)Thanks ladies, I've attached the measurements of the room. That big open space is where it opens up to the dining/ kitchen area, it's all very open plan. I like the idea about the canvas and paints, that could be fun. Marsha, which way would you suggest angling the couch? Facing towards the opening, or the back towards the opening? I could put the console possibly in the blank wall next to the tv unit as there is nothing there, although I do like the idea of a kids table and chairs, but maybe I could hide that beside:behind the lounge. Could anyone show me examples of some fabric they think would look good for cushions, bright but still grown up? Thanks so much ladies :)...See MoreNeed decor ideas for family room
Comments (68)A suggestion that the professionals use and makes it SO much easier choosing colours - and then the perfect shade of that colour. Get a paint swatch of the Hog's Bristle - or paint a little sample card from leftover paint. Bring home 5 or 6 samples shades of navy from the paintshop to get the the closest shade/tone of navy to your couch. Armed with those - and a sample of your bench colour - hit the shops with confidence! You will see easily which yellow, or which Marsala or which 'whatever-colour-you-choose' looks great. There are many shades that might look like they work in the store, but when you get them home will be NQR,,,,you know, not quite right....and you still may not be thrilled with your room. It's a simple and almost foolproof way of choosing colour and has worked for me throughout many renovations.Couldn't do it without those little bits of colour! Have fun......See MoreFamily room decor ideas
Comments (29)Cloudpants awesome inspiration photos gave me an idea .... I'm just wondering if the lounge rotated to be length ways behind your dining chairs (facing towards the laundry/fire) with a large rug down and then perhaps a couple of recliners opposite (in front of the laundry door) with a coffee table in between might help define the space a bit better - but it might be a little small to accommodate that idea? Also thought perhaps a barn style slider door on the laundry might help to hide it and add a bit of a feature on that wall?...See MoreRemodelling Kitchen and Laundry
Comments (33)With limited measurements provided, ie: return wall next to the sliding doors and the width of the window it's hard to give the correct result. Given that there's only 540 between the window and the return wall , that suggests that there's also only 540 to the other corner? I had approx 1000 between the island, sink and cooktop with the island running across the space, I was going to suggest that the island is flexible and can be rotated with stools facing the window. I agree that the "U" shaped kitchen is restricting, one way in and out especially with kids. I don't think the sink is a problem under the window and being able to see the kids as the return wall is approx 900-1000 deep, this measurement not shown on plan. can you confirm the measurement is 450 into the other corner, this would also restrict any tall units going into that corner cheers...See MoreJAN MOYER
