Having lived for years with a front loader in the kitchen under counter and now with a good sized laundry I am resenting the laundry for the space it wastes! I would rather have a "european solution" and a good en-suit and walk in :) really it is a matter of how you want to live, in reality if you spend your life considering resale you won't enjoy your home, prospective purchasers will love or hate whatever you do, those that don't want a space solution will be the ones who want the big ensuite and robe anyway! A sliding door is just a big window, and if correctly built in (check if the glass is the correct sized for the door if a bit old) with the correct sized lintels this should not be a big problem as the loads would be transferred to the sides, allowing the door to slide easily. Silicon spray (being a Yachtie were we use this stuff everywhere), we now use silicone spray on all our windows in our 1930 home and the windows glide across with one finger before they used to tilt when trying to open them. I would place the door head up to line up with the others and one thing you might consider is placing a window seat, (rebate the bottom channels into the window seat) and have the window seat in and out, place a cushion over the entire seat, should be fantastic and if the deck is built, than no balustrade is required. If it is a stacker slider, i would do the seat for the entire length. So instead of looking a bit funny they will think it was supposed to be like that. Just love that rabbit perhaps his hutch would be good to the left on the top terrace The sandstone rock and stairs to the left of your house could be worked on to look really special again, a Zen like The fern that was moved off the rocks is likened to a weed and best removed, I quite like the rock as a feature. As for any pavers any of the square or rectangle concrete ones would look great and are cheaper than most, please don't paint them you can get them from Bunnings. We also play Bocci on our grass that over looks water. great fun.

Who ever is quoting on your windows, get them to run quotes on glass of various thicknesses. We ended up with 11mm glass in our stackers because the price difference between the thinner glass was negligible....we were really surprised.
