The original house was pretty dilapidated and almost falling down. With a family needing more room, not only was an extension needed, but space for communal dining in the lovely backyard. We call this the Blue House, as the painted blue floors span across the open floor plan of the kitchen and lounge room. An airy, bright Sydney home!

Comments (15)Thanks for your lovely comments! We did owner builder. So there were quite a few things we did ourselves. The kitchen we probably spent the most on about $20k due to the shaker style cupboards & use of 2 Caesarstones but it was worth it because I'm very happy with our kitchen! Comments (5)Making it longer and removing the overheads definitely opened it up (and I love the sleek look!) but I'm just wondering...where'd the microwave end up? Also, I know it's a crass question, but I want to do something very similar (veeeerry similar; I love your taste in cabinetry, and the light fixtures are awesome). Can you give a ballpark indicator of the ACTUAL project costs? I've done basic sums but I'm worried how things will blow out.
