Comments (4)Potentially yes if they're cut/laid badly - I was involved on a job that $30K(ouch!!) of glass mosaic's were jackhammered out and completely replaced because the overall finish was deemed that poor and dangerous - the entry steps were too risky to use and there were tiles falling off before it was filled!.......That was a particularly bad/unfortunate case, and not wanting to completely scare you off the idea, if the the pool design has limited/deleted any underwater sharp corners or edges, and the glass tile install/prep is performed properly, then there's arguably low injury risk, and they can be a great finish if done correctly :)...See MoreBlack light and white/grey and chrome ... Comments (4)Personally , I think it depends on the colours in the rest of your house . If it is colourful , then carry that through -- if it is predominately red and yellow , then use that for your pendent lights ( and towels and liquid soap dispenser ) , same if it is predominately blue or green or brown or purple -- well , maybe cut down on the purple haha . I'm not a fan of monochromatic , but if thats your theme , then go with the black pendents , but carry it through with a glass fronted 50's inspired Black and White picture ( and yellow or orange or red towels ? ) ....See MoreCeramic tiles for pool coping versus stone.
Comments (1)Just because your builder doesn't normally use a material doesn't mean it shouldn't be used. Builders often like to only use what they are used to and what they know will work well as they have used it on a previous job. Just make sure that your tile selection has a suitable edge for a pool, often called a coping tile, which is sometimes rounded and thicker. A standard square edge tile risks chipping if the square edge is exposed at the edge of the pool. Do your research, find some examples in real life and go with the best solution for the issue, which is not necessarily what your builder wants. Too often I meet unhappy homeowners who wanted one thing and their builder bullied them into something else (often as it was easier for the builder to install) to their long term regret. As long as your have researched it, and understand the issues so you can make an informed decision. After the job is finished your builder will probably never see your pool again, whereas you will see it every day.
