These look awesome, only downfall is that you will splash water, shampoo, conditioner, soap etc into the bath and have to clean it regularly (if not using regularly)

In addition, these substances will get stuck in all the crevases around the free standing tub - i.e. lots of hands n knees scrubbing!

If you can afford a cleaner, or love cleaning (like myself) - then it isnt an issue, but if you are after a space that only needs a quick wipe down to clean - this is not the design.

A built-in tub will help remove the small spaces to clean - but still a pain for most

We used this design in our main/kids bathroom. The shape of our room is a bit more square than what I have seen for most bathrooms set out like this though so there is actually space to the side of the shower before the bath starts. I don't find that I need to clean any of it more than I otherwise would but the kids do alternate between bath/shower and don't often wash hair in shower at this stage. I like that all the water/splash/dry off area is contained and that guests can use the toilet/basin without having to walk past shower/bath, as they did with previous layout. We have good ventilation and heating to help the wet area dry out and keep bodies warm when toweling off. I agree that a built-in or back-to-wall style of bath would be a more practical choice. Also keep in mind the size of the shower head and how far/what direction the water will spray. Ours is a fairly modest diameter and over head so the water doesn't spray out everywhere.... I don't let the kids use the hand-held one yet!!!!

we had a tiled shower with an extra tall hob that made a small "bathtub" (about 1200 x 800 x 400 deep without the curved sides (but not very comfortable) but, anything that makes you have to lift up one foot while standing on a slippery surface is a potential danger..that's why i prefer a built in bathtub with a wide ledge all around (to prevent the soap and duckies disappearing over the sides) and an adult can sit on the edge to supervise small children or an adult can shower and then sit down to swing legs over to get out and, a shower head that is either directly overhead or has an extra long arm, allows you to stand further away from the curved edges of the bath and then you have the issue of overspray and need to choose a screen or curtain?? and, apart from small children i wonder how often the bathtubs are being used..
