Need help on making open plan kitchen living room
Comments (14)I find it difficult to view your floor plan as it blurs if I enlarge it, so excuse me if this comment is invalid. Assuming the entry is from your living room and the home runs lengthways with the hall linking the bathroom, ldry and bedroom from the kitchen. The issue with this is that having two doors in the kitchen means you cannot form a working triangle for it to function well and don't have enough wall to fit out with tall storage. However, if you sealed up the door to the hall and opened access to the hall from the lounge as your plans seems to indicate in the top right of the lounge area, then you could widen the front opening into the kitchen rather than remove an entire wall, so integrate it into your living zone without lumping a kitchen in the middle of your lounge, you will improve your walk through flow, and gain a new length of wall in the kitchen where your fridge could go into the corner with a larger pantry flanking it, then your proposed layout t follow....See MoreHelp! Comments (38)One other comment. We have a bedroom off the great room but we set the door back by building out the wall with a fireplace. It helps with sight lines. We used built ins on the left to hide the TV when we have company, and the fireplace is a woodburning BIZ which heats the entire house (we live in a forest,,) the side is for firewood storage and we keep matches, batteries, flashlights in that area, but it does help when our guests are on the sofa from seeing right into the bedroom....See MoreNeed help with furniture layout and replacement in open plan room
Comments (15)Hi Ann, thank you for your comprehensive replies, I definitely prefer a neutral palette as I am attempting to make the view the main feature of the room. I love the style of the coffee tables you chose, they are exactly what I have been looking at and agree with your comments regarding the entertainment unit, I have been actively looking for a long lowline unit (220-240cm length and 45cm high)as I wish to minimise the obstruction of the view. You definitely have a knack for picking up on the look I was after!!!!. Thank you again for your assistance....See MoreTricky floor plan for family living room - help much appreciated!
Comments (6)Hi Jayrees It looks like the house is built as per the reverse image, right? Are you swapping the furniture every time you entertain? You'll know your chiropractor well. How big's your budget? If possible you could move the garage forward by at least 1/2 and that'll give you a 3x6 family room, then you can move the kitchen down to the laundry with a breakfast bar also a possible scullery to hide dishes while entertaining. Want a bigger pantry too? A bigger budget would be if you can sacrifice bedroom 2 and move the laundry into half of it with a study in the other half if you are needing 2 studies. Condolences on the garage being small with the dimensions starting with 5000, hope you don't have big vehicles. Is the entry wide enough for double doors?...See More- 8 years ago
