What type of plants
Comments (16)Be aware that artificial turf can get very hot underfoot. You could lay a narrow old brick or limestone paver path to clothes line for easy access and plant ground covers or low profile herbs (eg.oregano and thyme) to use in cooking. Hardy herbs or flowers such as rosemary, lavender, geraniums against the edges of the space toward the back. Even add some large long troughs of flowers on the retaining wall to pretty up the area. It looks like it could get quite warm there but maybe a jasmine or similar climber to climb up a frame attached to the part of the large wall where there is no clothes line. Good luck, it will be a lovely space I'm sure once you get started....See MoreBefore and after photos of a Townsville cottage
Comments (9)What a dramatic transformation. I love the mix of materials used. So good the stumps could be used internally - they are beautiful. Fabulous job!...See MoreMatching laminate floors to hardwood
Comments (8)The cypress pine that you have upstairs is a very distinctive look and I am not familiar with any laminate timber manufacturers doing anything similar in colour and knotiness. This means that you won't find a close match, so I would consider other materials that are completely different. Don't go with a timber-look laminate as it will look really fake compared with the real timber boards that are upstairs. In this photo there are three different flooring materials that are working harmoniously together. There is the clear-stained cypress pine on the lowest level, hardwood treads on the stairs, and slate floor tiles. (If you want to see more photos of this Pettit and Sevitt house then visit: https://secretdesignstudio.com/mr-mrs-modanest-danish-style/ ) Will your ground floor be on a slab, or on stumps? If you are on a slab then consider tiles, polished concrete or carpet. For your stair treads consider polished timber treads. Remember that tiles and polished concrete will last forever if correctly laid, whereas carpet and timber laminate flooring have a limited lifespan as they are much less durable. Comments (0)My partner and I are beginning to have conversations with Landscapers in regards to our front yard design but we’re struggling for ideas. Currently we’re thinking front door in bottom bricked area after front right corner is excavated in a 3.6x3.6 square to ground level. Stairs from the ground level up onto the landing with new turf, that is supported by a retaining wall that surround that square as well as filling up the driveway. All stumps and trees in the picture will be taken away. What native plants do you think we could plant? The house will be painted white shortly with a dark trim. We don’t want anything that will cover the front window. Any help would be appreciated....See More- 8 years ago
