Help updating exterior house paint colours from 90's heritage look
Comments (6)Just me , but I'd start at the front , and just take the 'small steps' approach . The basics look well done . I'd go for repainting the front door in a 'popping' bright colour ( a bright red seems logical to me , as it would tie in with the 'plum' colour around the guttering ) , and see how that looks . The door does have the advantage and disadvantage that it is in the shadow most of the time , so it needs to be bright to be noticed , but you'd have to get the colour right . If that worked , I'd then be inclined to do the front and side window surrounds in the same colour as the front door , but initially only 30mm wide ( use making tape ) . The ones along the front and rear may look okay with the whole 80-100mm board painted , but I suspect the side windows would look overdone and out of character , So start smaller , stand back , wait a month , and modify if need be . Another thing , the 2 concrete 'bases' in front of the front door may get an uplift by doing just them ( they look like maybe 800mm tall by 300mm wide ? ) in the plum colour of the guttering -- ties the top and the entry together ? The pillars above them and across the front of the house , I'd leave as they are ....See MoreBathroom facelift help
Comments (7)not sure a mosaic is the first thing i would do in this space!! But placing a few leafy plants will freshen up the overly warm vibe. We have been in h=our house for 13 years now and somehow we still have a 1980 bathroom, arghh. This bathroom looks functional enough to me just for now. But you could tweak it to take out some of that peachy vibe by creating a bit of contrast with more white. paint wall tiles and cabinet doors white, change taps over to chrome finish (this alone will make a world of difference), white towels and simple accessories and yes, lose the lace curtain (might need some frosting for the window if overlooked.). good luck with it all :)...See MoreFloor plan help for 90s home
Comments (11)Kate's idea for more private access to bed 3 plus a few other ideas but always depends on accurate dimensions..eg use existing wiw for an office and add extra biw, steal space off entry to create a small study nook, add an internal window with cabinets above and below to look through from kitchen to living area, include built in bookshelves around the corner and under the new window for TV and storage, add wall cabinets over sink to focus view down to the garden and compensate for some of the lost pantry and have an extendable table in the dining area to allow floor space in the family room for play space...use freestanding (screwed to the wall) tall bookshelves for extra storage long term a new garage with roof deck could allow the old garage to be used as a rumpus room and add alfresco space with a view...See MoreBefore & After: A '90s Family Home Reborn
