Redesigning our house including kitchen, two bathrooms & laundry. Ideas?
Comments (53)Thanks Jayme, I get what you mean, it's just not really practical for our house & will make the renovation a lot more difficult & expensive if we start moving walls like the to gain an extra couple of feet. It's possibly a load bearing wall too. But that area which is currently our kitchen where we are thinking of putting the fire place isn't the main living area, it's basically the centre of our living area which is a long room from one end of the house to the other, so we were thinking having the fire there will warm the house better being that it will have the kitchen & dining table one side of it & the lounge the other side. I think we could it a couple of cozy arm chairs & a small coffee table or we could just put a love seat up against the section of wall opposite the fire?...See MoreSolutions needed to family bathroom layout to maximise space
Comments (10)Annb1997. Thanks for your suggestions. I don't think I need a heated towel rack if have a central heating radiator. A hanging rack would go above this perhaps too but also near the shower. In my lomg experience of CH the towels dry off fine in winter this way. In summer also when radiator not on if the window is open. I really do not like sliding doors on showers so have to find a solution with a 1000mm square shower with door. I have spent two hours today in a showroom looking at all possible combinations. Clearance is insufficient with certain size fixtures as you state with the vanity in the new position. So my homework tonight was choose from all the possible variations that we determined would work. Wish me luck!!...See Morevanity spacing in bathroom renovation
Comments (10)Thanks for all the input! Lots to think about here. To answer the questions, to the right of the door is a bump out from a linen cupboard in the hallway - we won't be moving or resizing that. There are no windows (all walls are internal). Yes, we were thinking of a 'ladder' style towel rack to use some height. The doorway is 700mm and the toilet wall to the doorway is 1150mm. We don't have a specific stool or vanity selected yet. Re why we wanted to include a seat of some sort - I use the edge of the bath every day, both for putting a foot up while drying off or applying moisturiser etc, and for sitting on for foot care / clipping nails etc. I have to admit that I hadn't considered just using the toilet seat as I'm used to those older, slightly domed lids that 'buckle' if you sit on the centre of them. But I can see now that newer toilets appear to have flatter and more solid lids, so perhaps that is an option afterall. We also wanted to select a stool that could go in the shower - my husband is quite sporty and would love a sit-down massage shower on occasion. I'm thinking now that we perhaps just have a 'wet' stool live in the shower recess (bottom right corner of the plan should be out of the way) and then the toilet lid for 'dry' use. The last picture shared by dreamer is a very nice solution, though if we extend the vanity all the way to the left hand wall we'll have to look at narrower towel racks. Hmm, all very interesting! I'll experiment some more and probably come back to bounce some more ideas off you all. Thanks. :)...See MorePlant advice needed for narrow path garden
