Suggestions for pool area - tiles + cabana?
Comments (7)I like the look of theTravertine paver colour 'Tuscany' as it will compliment both the house and the gambion wall. For plants, as suggested by Neryl Hollingsworth, camillias are evergreen and the flowers will add beautiful colour to the garden....See MoreIdeas for new finishes around our pool area
Comments (5)Hey Paul, check out a place called ecooutdoors.com.au for inspiration. I'm not sure if they're up your way but I'm sure you could get materials shipped. They have such a beautiful store with brilliant ideas. I'd be considering a stone that is cool under foot on hot Brisbane days and at least 30mm thick. You have an oval-ish shaped pool so you might consider a small coping stone to replace the brick then move on to a larger stone instead of the dated pebble, maybe a 'cush' limestone or go a bit glam and do a herringbone pattern with the right stone. Good Luck....See MoreWhat to do with large blank wall above pool area?
Comments (46)Thanks everyone for your further comments. No problem about it being an old post, always nice to communicate with people about design solutions/problems. Jilly, I posted some photos on 1st January 2016, they appear further up in the post. Garden Beet Pty Ltd, and Morel Construction Ltd, both of your solutions look great, but our problem still remains the western Queensland sun which is pretty vicious on anything that will either wilt, fade or break down. It was quite a difficult challenge to come up with something that was affordable, workable and durable. I would love to have had plants because I believe they soften large "hard" exterior areas, but we have decided that we will do that with pots around the pool area. Still have that to do, even after all this time. :) Thanks everyone for re-igniting this chat. Jilly, hope you find something that works for you....See MoreNeed ideas for nice plants around pool area?
Comments (10)My piece of advice would be to make sure the plants you select can tolerate being around a pool. This will definitely be a 'splash zone' so any plant species that will get damaged or not cope with salty or chlorinated water. As an example, I have seen a beautiful row of Black Mondo Grass that suffered greatly from the pool water and died. Also be mindful of the size of plants you might be planting close to your pool. Plants with invasive roots or large palms can cause damage to the strucutre of your pool so their locations should be carefully considered. Good luck!...See More- 6 years ago
