Best creamy white/light cream paint to match primrose hue colourbond?
Comments (30)We're going through this at the moment. We have way too many primrose windows and doors to ever consider changing them, so we're embracing them. They suit the house, which is a tan coloured brick with a red tile roof and apricot tiles like yours. We like native Australian colours and are considering some of those (muted greens, beiges, and blues) for our living and bedrooms, but we are struggling with the main wall colours, which we want to be light. Our approach is a trim colour that provides a way to transition from the primrose aluminium to a warm (not yellow) white , and what we have so far is a Resene Double Pearl Lusta for trims with Resene Half Pearl Lusta for the walls. I actually have Half Pearl Lusta on the walls of my office at work and it's a great, warm (not yellow) white that I think will suit the primrose and the tiles. I've experimented with Dulux Berkshire White for trims but they're too bright and white and clash too much with the primrose. I think the big lesson with primrose is that you have to embrace it and not fight against it. It's never going to look any good with really stark whites and monochromatic furniture. Embrace the warmth! Once solution I've found is to also change door furniture (including hinges) to black, because it goes really well with the primrose. Black door furniture and fittings, primrose aluminium windows, and a warm (not yellow) white actually look really good together and provide a solid base for experimenting with other warm, muted colours for feature walls, rooms, and statement furniture....See MoreHelp, I’m surrounded by primrose window frames and doors frames!
Comments (5)Hi Adele, I decided to roll with them and work the colours around them to draw attention away from the primrose. I’m so happy with the result. We painted the walls Dulux natural white and added new roller blinds in all areas with a view. We installed white shutters on all side windows of the house as they have no view. The shutters of course completely hide the primrose. The dulux natural white paint gave us the beautiful white look we wanted whilst also being a warm enough colour not to clash or highlight the yellow tint of the primrose. We installed a white kitchen and white shutter in the kitchen(no view on this side) We installed new flooring, it has a slight warmth without being yellow. Quantum 5mm Vinyl plank longboard colour Malmo (Choices Flooring) We don’t even notice the primrose anymore. I will attach some photos...See MoreCharcoal curtains in a bedroom?
Comments (2)Thanks for your help Kate. It's a holiday house so the blinds/curtains are just as much for security when we are not there as functionality so we probably need them on all windows for when we are not there....See MoreBathroom tile colours
Comments (20)So I have decided against doing a feature wall on wall running alongside shower as it will make the room too dark. Instead the feature tiles will be on the wall behind the shower mixer. I am now in a quandry re the vanity wall. The floor will be light grey concrete style tiles, walls satin white and the ceiling is a raked ceiling made from baltic pine which over time has gone orangey tone. Do I get a plane white vanity, charred oak timber look (grey), another timber tone? I have decided on 1200 mm wall hung vanity but need help on colour and whether or not I put a mirrored cabinet on wall above vanity also. I originally had decided against any cabinetry above the vanity....See Moresiriuskey
