I was about 12 when I got my own room. Previously I shared a room with my mother as she was widowed. I chose the wall colours, aqua, a brownish colour and two burnt orange walls. Sounds dreadful but the colours were more subtle than they sound. I had an aqua chenille bedspread and and blue and white see through curtains that blew in the breeze. Out of my window I could see an orchard of plum trees. On the floor was a patterned carpet with a rim of polished floorboards (only the edges polished). A bookshelf, a desk, a wardrobe, a dressing table and my grandmother’s sandalwood glory box furnished the room. Love this post as it brought back memories of the 1960s for me.

If you are having a dishwasher installed, I really cannot see the need for two drainers. I needed to maximise on my bench space so I chose an Abey sink with 2 different sized bowls that came with a separate draining board, basket and chopping board. The draining board can sit on the bench when I need it, or can sit over the larger bowl and drain into the smaller one. Alternatively, the basket fits into the large sink if I want to leave anything to drain, but clear the bench top. The chopping board was a bonus that also fits over the sink bowls. I can't really comment on those specific colours as digital photogrpahy isn't accurate enough to tell the differences. Both Ceaserstone and Silestone have good reputations for being durable, family-friendly work surfaces for kitchens. However they are not indestructible - so if you put something red hot from the oven directly onto the surface there is a chance that they will crack from heat stress. The plain colours tend to show every crumb and bit of leftover food, but the ones which are more like terrazzo with a fleck pattern running through are really good at disguising crumbs. If you are looking for toughness and better durability then you should consider the Dekton surfaces by Cosentino, which is like the next-generation Ceaserstone (and a lot more expensive).
