Renovated queenslander
Comments (5)Thank you, Neryl. The new stairs solved three issues. We were governed by the distance from the entry to the side fence/retaining wall, hence the new stairs do not impede on either. This traditional design suits Queenslander's and we also improved access by having direct access from the driveway. Our client was more than happy to take on our design expertise in this field. Overall the project exceeded our client's expectations....See MoreBefore and after of a walk-in shower
Comments (29)My walk in was well over a metre deep and width was a couple of metres to the wall. The glass screen was a metre and a bit so there was no splashing into the room. The shower came off the end wall same as the pic however it was one of those variable height showers on a rod, I have no doubt the shower in the pic will be splashing into the room which would drive me nuts. Mine looked great, so open, neat, big, except the floor hadn't been layed properly so instead of the water going toward the drain under the shower head it went all over the bathroom, nearly 3 metres out right down to the loo creating a massive puddle in front of the vanity as well. Getting it sorted with the builder was nightmare I eventually gave up and ended up having a low barrier installed from glass to wall. It still looked fine and stopped the problem but one really has to ensure the floor angle is done properly before embarking on the walk-in shower exercise....See MoreBefore and after: an apartment makeover
Comments (18)Like the wall colour & like the bathroom. The problem with these articles that show before & after reno is the 'home' often ends up looking like a display house & I wonder how functional this house reno is as the home given the computer room/office is now a dining room so where are these items now located; the bathroom items the owner originally had hanging near the shower presumably for storage & easy access doesn't seem to be catered for; bedside table has completely different items & less storage (from 3 drawer to one). Certainly some good ideas but doesn't look like a home....See MoreBefore & After - Practical & Playful Garden
Comments (0)When Paul and Valerie came to us, their garden was overgrown but filled with potential. They had 1300 square metres to enjoy in their dream home, nestled in one of the prettiest parts of Blackburn. They wanted a practical and playful garden for a young family to compliment their newly renovated modern home. The design used a mixed planting palette, including natives and perennials to provide a cottage feel. We introduced modern sculptures into some hidden pockets with the idea of encouraging the children to explore a garden full of character. It was a wonderful design collaboration with the family. And it met the approval of visiting kookaburras and other native birds, including ducks and the Gang-gang Cockatoo. Check out the crazy paving paths, which allow the children to ride their bikes the entire span of the yard. They have since been busy exploring and so has Lulu, the pet doggie! What makes this project even more special is that the children’s names have been represented by some perfumed roses, something very personal to Paul and Valerie. Look out for other features, including espalier planting, a massive chook house, hidden bin areas, and vegetable beds too! We completed the design of the driveway to match the existing brick path that was in the front garden and gave it a modern twist. See how this outdoor space was transformed into a practical and playful paradise. Before: After:...See MoreDeMarco Architect/DRE Group Inc
