Sorry but I fail to see the relevance or relationship of this tile to the rest of what is going on. The stained glass window is a strong feature and there appears to be no relationship or relevance to this. It is so close and yet so far away from the main wall tile it looks like a tonal mistake. If it is a Kids bathroom I fail to see what age group of kids would find this attractive or exciting? I must be missing something here? Every individual element needs to have a reason for being there for the whole space to work. Very often individual elements look great on their own bot look a shambles in the wrong mix so unless there is a good reason for this choice from a design perspective it it may end up being a good element in the wrong place. Well, I did a trial with a few tiles and then covered them with polyurethane. The trial didn't necessarily go entirely to plan but I was able to establish that PU will be too soft. Epoxy is likely to yellow even indoors, so that leaves me with the following solution: 1. make the tiles thicker (not a big deal) use tile selection and a thicker tile bed to enable a relatively flat surface to be made 3. seal it with a thin polyurethane to protect from mess Thanks for the contributions.

Hi Sofia I definitely think brick lay would work better on the walls in the bathroom purely because you have a 30x30 on the floor and a 30x60 on the wall. You will find the tiles could look out of place trying to stack them. It would be a different matter if they did not share 1 or more dimension. You could hang your mirror so it covered about 1/4 of the "floor tile" and 3/4 of the white above the centre of the sink. Alternatively, tiling the entire back wall with the "floor tiles". The first option may make the bathroom feel smaller if the shower takes up more than 1/3 of the back wall. Is that pic your actual place , or off a brochure ? The door is beautiful , the glass is great , I can't work out if the steps are polished concrete or marble , but basically it all looks classy ! And then that stacked stone looks like someone has run a picture through a black-and-white photocopier , and glued it on -- it looks fake ! Just a hint -- stacked stone doesn't have uniform crisp sharp corners -- and the grout lines should follow around corners too haha . Any sort of tiling may look as bad , or maybe better ; likewise powdercoated aluminium panels will look corporate ( not a good thing on a house IMO ) . If it was me , I wouldn't care if the 'allowance' was $60 -- I'd happily spend $6000 to go genuine ! It will make the whole place look better -- you only have 1 chance to make a first impression ! BTW -- is that $60 in total , or $60 a square metre -- neither will go far ? If budget really is that tight , how about just a plain render . Even thats probably more than $60 ! If thats all you can afford , so be it . But either at build time , or in future , if you have the $$$ , you could add 5 or 6 vertical 40mm x 40mm battens across the front of the column , same style and tone as the door , the full height ( maybe $600 ? ) and obviously referencing the door .
